I swear by the NAPA Gold/Wix filters. Fram filters make the baby Jesus weep.

So far all the filters I've opened up the Amsoil filter is the best in my opinion. It has a Donaldson micro fiber mill spec media. The Wix is my second choice, Just sayin'

My buddy just blew up his built engine in his Buick Grand National this week thanks to a Fram filter exploding. If they were free I wouldn't run them. Cant believe Fram is still in business with the junk they sell.

I hear you, low burst strength as well. Great marketing but very poor quality and filtration on top off.

I have ran Fram filters and 20-50 in all my vehicles and boats for ever until about 8 years ago. I had bought the new Fram that had a checkvalve so when you turned off the engine the oil remained and did not drain back down the pickup.

So I am driving down the road in my old Cherry 1990 Bronco 302 back in the day and all of a sudden the oil pressure goes down to 0.

I turn it off immediately and go phuck the pickup tube must have come loose from the pump . So I was sitting in the middle of a major 4 way with no way to move it so I start to just try to drop it in gear to get it rolling figuring the 90 thousand mile motor is shot now anyways.

Start it up and oil pressure shoots back up so i drive a mile and it loses again turn it off and start it up and it works a gain. made it home 3 miles like this.

Go home and figure going to have to put a motor in it but in the mean time put a new filter on it . Ran fine with plenty of pressure. ran another 30 thousand with it.

Fram is junk how they are still in BIZ is beyond me

I swear at NAPA, but I use their NAPA Gold (WIX) Filters religiously.

The bright orange Frams are not meant to be used in racing applications. They do have filters that are meant for that and work fine. On my quest to find the best filter out there I've settled on the Royal Purple filter. Made by Champion and very close to the K&N and M1 that are made by Champion but have a couple little features that make them a hair better in my opinion.

I had a built 350 put in my truck when I was 16 and I changed to Fram filters and champion spark plugs. My Dad (mechanic) almost kicked my a** and made me put NAPA filter and AC Delco plugs back in it. Beat the crap out of that truck for 150,000 miles, 2 trans, a transfer case, rear end, and the engine never missed a beat! Been a believer ever since.
