Like I said, to each their own. If I could afford a nice second boat for entertaining large groups it would be a yacht with full bar and amenities.
70 miles per hour does not get me into the thrill zone so might as well have the comfort of a yacht or nice cruiser. All just my opinion of course. I just don't see the appeal of the CCs other than the convenience of the OBs.

70's offshore in real waves is more than enough to get your heart up. I hope you realize most these big offshore boats are in that range as far as speed

"Our inland lakes" do you mean that only Offshore boat owners should be allowed to use your inland lakes??

Me too. I'm surprised at all the praise for CCs on this thread. First our inland lakes get taken over by pontoons and now these giant 70 mph fiberglass pontoons are going to replace traditional go-fasts? I don't like it. I don't need ten people on my boat. I rarely have four.

This is my second CC and I couldnt be happier, the boat has a great layout, very well built, I love the simplicity of a CC and nothing like standing up working on your motors. I have a 4yr old and for kids it's a no brainer, bottom line I own a boat to "use" it and have fun, that's it!
32' x 8' x 6,000 lbs, about 57 gps top speed with my old 250's, should be 63-64 when I re-power with Merc 250 xs's in a year or so. I do my yearly maintenance in the spring and run the boat all summer. Sonic bought the Dakota molds and is selling the same hull, Marlago, Marlin, Palmetto were all the same basic hull at some point. all composite construction, no wood rot to worry about. About 5'5" headroom in console for a head, decent cabin that 2 can sleep in, Boat rides great in rough water, that's the main reason I bought this model.
CLA if the only thing keeping your lady from leaving is the boat you may need to re-evaulate

If I lived in a fresh water lake I would not appreciate OB's either but for saltwater they are the ticket, anodized aluminum holds up much better than steel, period!, OB's are also designed for the purpose, extended high RPM runs are normal.
Jupiter, the Marlin was a 35, there are differences between all of those but I think the hulls are the same, the 35's are 9'4" wide and mine is 8' but I think the hull is similar. I think they were ahead of their time for a lot of the features, mine is a 97

I owned a 28' Mako C.C. from 1987 to 1998 and to this day i miss that boat. It's not about how many people you can carry, more about the simplicity of operation and maintenance. I still don't get the blinging up that's done to performance C.C's, seem to compromise the intent having to keep up all the high end upolstery, carpeting, stereo speakers, gazillion of anodized signage stating who made the boat etc. C.C. boats are work trucks and work trucks can be blingless and fast.

I wasn't knocking your boat with the size and freeboard comment, i love the Donzi Classic, just though it was a funny comment given the size of the boat. It must be a blast to drive with a 525! Basically the same uses as the bigger boats in your photo, pretty much just blasting around which I miss but a single use boat isn't practical for most people, If I had the time to maintain three boats I would. We go to the Bahamas a lot and I need something I can fish and dive off of, party on, carry a ton of crap and people, and make my way through the occasional 10 ft seas in the gulfstream. Center console is the only option. I can't even upgrade to a big Viking because the draft is in issue in the Bahamas.

There used to be this couple who had one of those big wide old Sea Ray 42s from the 80s who used to come out to our sand bar. There were all kinds of people on that boat big party. Boat would get trashed, unbelievable.
