OHH and LENGTH is KING in any BIG WATER if you can keep the weight in a correct balance of COG and the hull built light but structurally resilient enough to absorb the pounding of the waves rather than reflecting those loads to the passengers.
I think there is a fine line between a potato chip and a wet burrito. |
Wasn't it NORDSGOG that beat up on the whole offshore world with the than lengthened 39 Cigarette years before the Apache. I could be wrong known to have been before.

Every Apache is worth exactly what one buyer and one seller agree it is worth, every other opinion is meaningless.

My choice to match any Apache in big water is a Magnum. http://magnummarine.com/history/

I think the Fountains ended up having a slight advantage in that thread due to sea cows flocking to the Cigs. I believe the addition of Apache would alter that outcome however. Since a higher percentage of Apache boats lack a swim platform the cows would have a difficult time boarding. If they did manage to get on board they would quickly fall off due to not being able to fit down into the holes of the 3 and 6 pack cockpits they typically have leaving the power to weight ratio intact. Meanwhile the cows would have no problem dragging themselves up the Fountains integrated platforms and rolling into the pleasure cockpits. This would take away the weight advantage of the Fountain. Now on equal footing weight wise the typically more powerful Apache would walk the Fountain. In rough seas the Fountain might even sustain some damage due to the lighter layup and added weight.
