I know, ratman. It sucks. I also know some people who have to go out and help when/if there is real trouble, it puts them at extreme risk too. I never saw it that way before, but there are two sides to the coin. Just being real about beating up equipment and the risks associated with it. Don't get me wrong though, I would love to run a 41 to see what it's truly all about:angry-smiley-038: We all have our big water stories and some of them are even real maybe, you never know on here though:popcorn: BTW, it's all about how you run with your scissors! :p

To the OP: I think the asking price on the Gucci boat seems fair, but only have the classified ad to go on. Carbed, not as wild as some others, side by side not staggered, questionable colors for some people no doubt, but it is the real deal. I have to admit, I have thought about it, (Gucci) but who hasn't daydreamed about 1 or all of the Apache's in the classifieds for a few minutes??? The other boats are less practical for what I would like in most ways, might rather have a newer boat for the cost of some of the pricier Apache, either v-bottom or cat. The race cockpits and glass engine covers etc are as practical as a cat anyway, depending on how/where you boat or how many boats one is able to own.

most are probably going to pop a gasket but IMO they ruined that boat... streamlining the hatches ect... the lambo style look at me paint.

warpaint or yellow warpath are both more attractive in my eyes. the 1350s would be cool but after reading on the m8 drive problems people have had I'd rather have some old school drives behind 850-1000.

also pretty sure i read Gucci is tape not paint or gel as far as design... that turns me off 100%.

I'm not a take my family out for a Sunday cruise kinda guy. I'm more head out an let em hang while everyone else hides at the dock...
my favorite times running any boat I've been in were when it was roughest.

PigNaPoke 08-01-2014 07:14 PM

also... I'm not dreaming I'm hearing all sides before I make a decision like this... just towing / storing a rig this big has to be planned an thought out. turns a $150,000 boat into a $300,000 boat before you ever turn the key...

also how would insurance be on a 41 compared to a cat?
cat insurance is the reason I'm not even interested...

Apache Star has been well received, but as we all know the only man that has to like it is the guy paying for what he wants (Anything custom built is like that). The M8 drive I believe has had some teething issues, they have been addressing them (others would know far better than me about that high dollar hardware). Mark Adams Marine Management usually has some nice Apache Powerboats to choose from, might want to give him a call and see if he has something you like? Good hunting PNP! Hope this helps.

also wanted to thank everyone for contributing to one of the best threads about this subject I have read... keep it going.

Mark must be an economist building inflation into his Apache pricing!

230K boat new in 1987 = 399K asking price today!

I know I turned it into Desert Warrior with Mark McManus back in 1998 BTW that's me standing in the cockpit on it's initial sea trial

sean stinson 08-08-2014 07:37 AM

That was one of the finest pleasure 41's I had ever run...

Hope to have both 42's at the Shoot Out in a few weeks, if your around look me up and you can look the boats over yourself.

Keytime 08-08-2014 08:32 AM

Eddie, would love to see Warpath charging hard post-Shootout.

I like the look of the headdress 42 chief...

What separates chief, cherokee, and apache and what are the reasons? Bobby s rigs / has rigged both chief and apaches correct? Are the chief boats their own mold design or a stretched apache?

Still looking and kicking around the idea of owning an apache.

caseyh 08-08-2014 07:53 PM

Think it's all the same mold. Along with the one off checkmate
