I see a few flaws in the scheme:
1. Disappearing today is much harder than say 1970s (computers killing most of stealth moves with bank accounts, criminal warrants at anyone's finger tips). Also being well known in racing circuits is going to make it harder to blend in!
2. Unless you have a lot of money (millions) stashed this isn't going to last long or you are planning to live like Ratman living as Escobar Jr in Columbia on 14 cents a day!
3. Having a young accomplice is going to be trouble, the kid will crack under questioning (or may already have).

WOW, reminds me of our notorious faked death here in Galveston bay. Resulted in many wasted man hours searching. He served his time and is back at work last I heard.

yeah, weak link for sure. He would have been better off just crashing the boat on his own and leave the kid out of it, unless he duped the kid from the crash to the splash....meaning the kid really didn't know he was planning to disappear.

Ironic isn't it that SVL Warlock was the one ringing the bell and blaming another racer for a certain activator
"ahhh the tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive" aint karma a biotch.
As I said back then there was much more to the story, but everyone was real quick to point fingers. Lets not forget about the boat that was rolled and he "wasn't" near it

kind of aggravates me... I've met a lot of great people boating. but it seems this hobby has more scam artists/crooks than any other... when are we as a group going to close the circle... ?

what world do you live in?
he will get a $754.84 fine and have to pay $28.36 bi-weekly for the next 5,000 weeks and 6 months suspended sentence and time served along with 5 years probation and 67 hours of community service
he will have a job with Bill Hionas in a week
hell he will get bigger charges for faking the death
