I met the guy once. He seemed really nice and took me and my family out on his boat. It was a 23' Eliminator V.

The Rescue Crews put themselves in harms way to quickly locate someone (hopefully alive). Helicopters, powerboats, manpower all over the water. Honorable people performing a service for those in immediate need. That being said, if this situation is a found to be a hoax (as authorities suspect), I hope the penalty is severe and non negotiable! That's the way I look at it.

I believe there is severe penalties with a deployed search and rescue. Typically will even have to repay all expenses and those CG choppers are not cheap to fly ..... $$$$$$ But you can't get blood from a stone.......
