I didn't read the whole thread. Maybe someone answered your question already. The rod bolt did not break first... If the rod bolt broke first your cap would not be blue. Your failure is a typical spun bearing failure... The bearing spins and gets tossed out then your rod beats on the crank with no bearing (creating heat and the bluing) this goes on till your rod bolts break.

You would have seen a drop in oil pressure also.

I figured spun bearing, trying to see why, oil pressure was 65-70 when it happened, I will know if it was oil pressure issue soon as I see others, if other rod bearings look beat could be detonation, we will find out more soon... trying to find time to tear engines out, hope Sunday since I will not be boating lol

Has been some great informative reading ty Kinda snooped back on your previous threads from years ago ,You have come a long ways in a few years congrats.

I laugh my azz off that you run that boat so hard and admit you beat the chit out of it and the motors and when one lets go you don't cry you just want to re shoe and get back in the Rodeo

Thanks bud!!

Yes learned bbc the hard way years ago, did tem right never had issues again besides normal "I beat the fuk out of it" issues

As far as dunking the boat and other toys, I have addictions to speed and fun, it's my drug of choice, I been blowing chit up for 20 years and when you run things hard it's gonna break at some point, you learn to get over it and just fix it, find a way to make it positive, in this case I will fix blow by issues I had, and going in for hip replacement in November so it's a plus I can get jump start on this now and make money faster by not boating rest of the season lol

Mom always said "could be worse" I live by that

This just came today; read the article on Optimization of clearance design for high performance engine bearings. Maybe should start a new thread on engine bearings and clearances.

I think there was one about that and bearing size/machining that didn't end so well.

It could also have been an out of round rod end. To tight of bearing clearances. etc. etc.

could have, this time MY machinist will be doing it, then I know that's not going to be an issue... I am actually now looking forward to making them right...no matter what the cause was
