I get all that, I guess my question is are the PBM rods ok for my application? they don't look like Chitty rods, I mean they are upgrade to something no? they look as good as Scat, Eagle and such, going to see my machinist tonight to see what he says.... open late on Mondays...

so not junk rods I would assume?

I know the rod wasn't my failure itself, but if I have to buy them I want to replace with decent stuff and keep matched if I can (PBM) so both engines are same parts... hate mismatched..

Heed your own advice, do it right the first time and don't skimp. You keep asking if the pbm rods are ok, this says you doubt them. If this was Duramax posting the same question about the rods after gernading a motor what you tell him?? There's your answer.

You know damn well that if you use those rods (whether they are good or not) There is going to be that voice of doubt in the back of your head and that cringe in your stomach everytime you grab a handfull of throttle.

Thats not how you want to roll. Your like me and you like to push it and run it hard. To do that you have to have complete trust and faith in your equipment.

But I think what he is looking for more than anything is that for his quality of build and budget what do the expert builders think of these rods for his use, that's all. I am sure he would like to own the best but not everyone can afford it.;

From what I have read he doesn't go out for a day cruise , If the throttles aren't pinned there's no Grin.

Sounds like he got some hard hours out of a previous doubtful build he didn't have anything to do with so maybe if it is speced and put together right this time it will live a little longer.

I'm sure you guys will address this but, I'd concentrate on a good oiling system. IE.... Good 10qt. Pan, blueprint the pump and properly set up the pickup to pan clearance and tig it in place, crank scraper, blueprint all the clearances, etc........

I'd bet the house you had an oiling failure an things went south from there.

That is what I kinda thought too after watching the vid a few times.

But also I figured it is taking 6 guys about 2 minutes to run a rod from start to end. So at 7 dollars a day per a chinese man working 14 hour days and you do the math it works out to roughly 10 cents worth of additional labor to build a forged rod over a cast.

Yea I will take the 2 sets of Forged Rods for an extra 80 cents over the cast ty
