Default How much to replace rear main?

Twin 5.7 mag P-29 I guessing that where my oil leak is coming from the port rear main. What should I be looking to pay to have the engine pulled and have it fixed and put back in?

First try to snug the pan bolts. Over numerous heat cycles they tend to loosen up.

Good luck!!

It takes about 4 weeks to leak out 4 quarts and then the leaking seams to stop. Can the pan bolts be reached without pulling the engine?

Sure, just cut the back seat out

Personally I would have the engine pulled, smoke tested, and all gaskets replaced. My guess is $800-$1400 complete

If it leaks while sitting, it's not likely the rear main. There isn't 4 quarts above it to leak out. Look at where the dipstick goes into the pan/drain plug/any other pan fittings.

Smoke test-A machine that burns mineral oil? and pumps the smoke into the crankcase, basically, usually used in the intake to detect vacuum leaks.

Yup and yup!

A smoke machine can be used to test anything that shouldn't leak.

For you engine, drain the oil, next place the smoke in the dip stick tube, let it run til u see smoke from the breather, then plug breather. The leak will be the next thing to show a smoke trail

my smoker has a ultra violet dye in it so you can pin point the leak with a black light..you can also just but the uv oil dye from napa and use a black light to pin point the leak,,you might have a loose drain plug..yes they are still have drain plugs in the pan! ..

Could also be leaking from the oil filter adaptors..

Is it because it only holds 4 quarts ?

Sorry. Tough long sweaty day at work. A little punchy.
