Default Back to Basics

Charlie,

Why don't you do this properly?

Use the UIM Marathon rules (classes and safety gear) as a template - it would save you hours of work and at least give potential competitors an idea of the requirements for the race boats.

Put an event web site together with the most important details; date of event, time of race start, host venue, racing rules, entry fee by class, contact details of organiser.

Then you have something to show your potential entrants (stopping many questions on forums) and moreover valuable potential sponsors and partners.

Having attended in 2010, I saw what a fantastic host venue La Motta's was - I wish you all the best.

John. Good to hear from you again, you have been doing a great job with Cowes each year. I know, I know, it is only the cost of an airplane ticket for me to come......maybe next year eh?

Send me the link if you could to the UIM site and that is certainly worth considering, thanks.

Hope to see your face at LaMottas again some day....your always welcome on this side of the pond!

In open ocean running, on any given day, the HP difference between two boats of equal length can almost become mute. On a long distance run the lower power boats almost actually become the favorite because the higher HP boats tear themselves up. For this reason I think the classes should be broken down along these lines:

No, you didn't miss anything. Before we decide classes, we simply wanted to know how many people would be interested in doing a race like this.

It seems that we have a strong interest from a number of people and probably after the OFF meeting this weekend, we will start sorting through classes.....stay tuned.

Will let you know after next week .......when we have a chance to sort this out.

Looks like you may fall under the heaviest number of people interested so far.....the 35 foot to 42 foot group.
