I realize the DG is not designed to replace the need for a larger beefier drive, but will it help bravos live behind larger hp?? I have a 28 daytona eliminator with 650 a side but would like to add blowers and make around 800. Would these help the drives live with this kind of power?? It sure has my attention!!!:)
Will only help in the rough water |
It`s the loading, unloading and torque spikes that will destroy a drive. That`s what exactly what the Drive Guardian is designed to prevent. My motors make 850tq and The DR is getting set up to engage at 900tq. That means my drive will never see any more than 900ft of tq.
In my old drag race days , generally, you didn`t break a rear end going down the track (even if overpowered ) you broke it in the burnout box especially if it started to hop. A boat on a inland lake that only sees the occasional cruiser wake seems those guy keep their drives together a long time. Same boat at LOTO or the Great Lakes may only see a season or two. Drive Guardian makes your drive think it`s river boating :drink: The other advantage is also saving and decreasing the tq to the transmission (in my case) and the really to the entire drive train including the crank. I like this product question does the rotating mass of the drive Guardian suck up any HP.
|
i know the saris boat is staggered bravo's
mercruiser has a different part # for the coupler used for jack shaft/ drive line models, will the bravo dg work on the drive line housing or is it special? the flywheel i want to use bolt pattern for the coupler is 12 5/8 center with 6 bolts |
I like the idea of these and am going to be running them this year. I will report back as I test them:boat:
Mike needs to come up with a prop hub--- then for sure the drive and tranny aren't going to see any extra torque.... |

Thanks definitely the way way to go.

Unless something changed the SSM version uses a lighter flex plate instead of flywheel.
Yo also end up with a Flywheel and coupler to sell ..couple of buck to offset the cost.. |
I will no doubt install a set for my WEAK AZZ Bravos, but not untill I have to pull the engines for freshing the lower ends or emergency repairs. Getting lazy the older I get. I believe they will be just the ticket for my needs!
