OK, found some boat pics. LOL I've been going out to Boca Grande for many years and while it's always a great time last month was probably best ever in many respects. It will be a real shame if we cannot go out there next year. Wonder how the officials will react we just show up in another location? I have my eye on one other island in particular.

It was the best year out there this year. I think the sandbar to the west of the island would be a good place to go. Especially with a normal tide.

It was for sure a lot of fun this year!! Way back I remember going to the other little island 300 yards or so from Boca, I think that's the one you're taking about. Then a storm blew the island away and we moved to Boca . Lost a few brain cell since then but that's what I remember.

No law against a raft up, just don't pee on an island, something might get fertilized.

A little more light on the situation from the two people most closely involved, A fun day during "Speed Week" in Key West could be going by the wayside.

I've seen PLENTY of "wild life" on that island!

BTW, Pat Sullivan usually brings a grill. Last time I was there, we were cooking filet mignon on the back of a 42 Cigarette.
If there are any tasty birds there next time, please point them out to us.

(just kidding all of you tree-hugging fern-lickers!!)

Sad, as this really is the highlight of the week in my opinion.

So, the way I read the follow up article is - if you don't enjoy the island in the manner she (they) see fit, you're out of luck. Typical radical nature nazi view point. There is zero negotiating with these people. I find it typical (and commical) that boca grande was selected because boaters wanted a nice isolated white sand beach where they could enjoy the tranquility of the nature that is there. Again, they're enjoying it in the manner they see fit. Just because they're not dressed in full khaki garb with binoculars counting birds doesn't mean they aren't enjoying everything the island has to offer.

These people are elitist that take out any type of common sense when it comes to the protection of some three horned goat weed. I mean really, one day of boats on the island is not going to destroy the eco system.

If I seem a little fired up on the subject it's because I'm dealing with a similar situation on the beach I live on. Absolutely ZERO common sense used by these people. Animals have more rights than humans. Nice!

Tank your 100% right they use the animals to protect there own interest. There might be an easy way around this not sure how it's written down at Boca Grande but I have a place out in LI NY and would take my boat to Jessups Neck they have signs that say no boat landing but nothing about anchoring out 10 ft and walking on.
