Thanks to all that challenged me to rethink this before it was too late.
Bill- If you ordered a new 39' what would you do differently beyond power options? Would you wait for the new larger CC?

If you look at the close up helm pic in post #241 you'll see the triple push button start switches to the right of the steering column. Keys are hidden inside cabin but won't really be necessary. Once the keys are all on then the battery switch alone will allow me to control the power using the helm push start stop buttons. Basically I wanted to avoid having 3 separate keys on the dash all w/ floaties & tywrapped together. I'd like to believe there's a better solution that provides a much tidier look.
Sportboats insists I should only need 1 Mercury TDS Key to control all 3 engines & that it still could be hidden but Nor-Tech insisted on 3 keys. I think it's redundant but I just got done saying the folks at Nor-tech are smarter than I so I'm not going to assume I'm smarter all of a sudden. Ultimately I ended up w/ the cleaner look.

The center engine follows one or the others depending on how you are manuvering. They do not use 3 levers anymore unless you request livorsi or aftermarket shifters.
The keys on the inside are probably because they use start/stop switches on the dash.
More security and it hides the large ugly keys.

My understanding is that the new Merc Sport Controls can be configured thru the Vessel View.
Standard set up will be both sticks fwd all 3 engines fwd
both sticks rev all 3 engines rev
one stick fwd & 1 stick rev kills ctr engine & allows you to rotate using 2 outer engines.
My question is, say you lose an outer engine if you split the sticks & it kills the ctr engine in essence you'd only have one engine under these circumstances but I'm told if you encounter an engine issue what the sticks control can be reconfigured thru the vessel view. This is probably something worth learning so as to be able to overcome the default setup if needed.
Keep in mind the std Merc DTS Controls normally used with O/B applications only have 2 sticks & can control up to 5 engines just 2 sticks that combine fwd/rev & throttle input.

In the situation of losing an outer engine, the center would indeed default to Neutral as it still thinks its a "Slave".....until both the ignition on the "lost" wing engine and the center is shutoff...and then the center restarted.
At this point, the center becomes a "Master" and would take its control from the offline wing engine's control. I was curious if Merc did this as well.

After an unbearable beating from my fellow OSO'rs I succummed to the pressure & upgraded to Triple 350's. My decision was strictly based on future resale value & not wanting to hear "I love everything about your boat BUT I wish it had 350's"

I'm interested in the thoughts of the OSO members on this thread on the performance of CC boats;
why is a vhull CC typically slower than an equal length performance v?
what are your thoughts on the improvement that an extra engine provides versus the drag/cost/etc...
What are your thoughts on the various hulls and their performance? some folks on here can tell you the exact speed of a well set up vhull power combo and they are all pretty similar but there seems to be a wide range with CC performance?
What do you think of the 7 marine performance versus cost?
What are your thoughts on 3 557's doing 8 mph more than 4 verado 350's on the mti for 200k more?

A performance Vee is usually a 8' - 9' beam, most CC's 10' or wider
I'm not confident that any CC manufacturer builds their CC hull on KILL for speed when they need to have rough water capabilities especially if they offer a fish version.
My guess is overall boat weight will contribute to the boats performance so in addition to the build materials there's the equipment, live wells & pumps, the hard top vs T-Top, whats the top support made out of, how many rocket launchers, did you opt for a Gen or A/C?
IMO a pr of HIGH HP O/B's like the new Merc 400's will be more efficient & cost effective in comparison to triples but try to resell a twin engine performance or fish CC to anyone that boats in open water & I'm pretty sure they'll tell you they insist on triples.
Those that know a particular boat model hot setup probably have owned & or tested & tuned on more than one & over time, trial & error have gotten to where they are at. Doubtful anyone debuts a model, mounts big O/B power & achieves optimum speed & efficiency out of the box.
That's all I got, plenty of peeps smarter than I on the boards.
Ben Robertson would be a good resource to answer your questions but he's too busy trying to pay the bills to be surfing here.
