[QUOTE=cigrocket;4245839]I agree the technology is better and it has evolved. It wan't too long ago, that if you ran 70+ and didn't break you were king.
Lighter Layups, vacuum bagged, steps, notches, it all makes a difference. I cant believe no fountain guys have chimed in about steps. :food-smiley-007: no need you cig guys ran with this one.:angry-smiley-044: I'm a big fan of the TS hull Cig or Fountain :) |
since when was there a 3k difference in hull weight from a straight to a ts. you're smokin some good stuff if you think there is only 4-5% gains on a ts lmao. without naming names i will tell you about a 9500 lb 38 straight bottom with 750 hp that doesn't go 80 and another straight 650 package that i clocked with gps at 71. please tell me where i'm going wrong here. earlier when you got your pants in a wad over me comparing my ol to my first 92 tg, i was simply trying to show the difference in step technology. i was fully aware that it wasn't cig to cig. the ol was a single step old tech. 9200 lb boat that ran well into the 90's with 600 dyno hp. when the boat had 500's in it, it ran 84. i would call it a good comparable to the cig. i'm giving you real world hp #'s and speed #'s on many different models, not sure why you are so conflicted with what i am saying. i have absolutely nothing to prove. the op wants real numbers, here they are. maybe you just wish there was only 4% difference in your straight bottom compared to a ts, if that where the case then the market would be a lot stronger on the straight bottoms wouldn't it? i too have a straight bottom and wish it was as fast as a ts boat but it isn't, however it will be faster that a standard gun being that it's carbon and a high x ssm boat.

Just to be fair my 500s make about 570HP, however my transom has no notch like the guns. Maybe I could achieve a little with extension boxes.

I think everyone is entitled to their opinions, I don't think attacking each other is accomplishing anything. I know it's -8 outside and everyone is sick of winter..lol
