Dave base is 2260 lbs, useful load is 1340 lbs, giving you a gross weight of 3600 lbs. Usually on a ferry flight you can take off with the airplane about 25% over FAA certified gross weight for that aircraft. So, with those numbers and a 200 lb pilot, you could carry about 2040 lbs or 340 gallons of fuel.
The plane will go 1000 miles on 80 gallons, so it would have no problem ferrying 2,500 with over 300 gallons on board...

You could make a fortune selling bigger versions of the chute system to Malaysian Airlines (with optional GPS upgrade, of course)
Pilot should be able to detach the chute after touch down. Seems like a similar flip could happen if you were on land in windy conditions. Still better outcome with versus without.

The safety record isn't great with the Cirrus planes despite the parachute. Yankee player flew one into a building in NYC, one guy pulled the chute at full speed essentially disintegrating the plane. I know a guy with one and he loves his but his fear is that it puts people behind the yoke that shouldn't be in the first place.
