Na, it will take more than your bad luck for that... Besides, your bad luck tank has to be running in empty by now.. :D
On the plus side, Jerry has it all back together and did some testing Monday. The drive worked fine. The water pick up needs some work. :) |
Just got home from dropping our indy drives off. they have a hand full of v10's in production. According to Ian, they are focusing on the v8 platform.(which they have sold 1000's) they will continue to build v10's/indy's they are wanting to do production runs 5-10 at a time not 1's.

I'm gonna be optimistic and declare that my drive housing getting cracked because a bridge was out during a freak blizzard in North Carolina was the bottom of the barrel for my luck with this boat.

I hate that Ilmor is reducing efforts in the high performance area. They have the talent to produce some innovative products for us. Hopefully they can get back in some time with some higher HP engines and keep offering more drive options.

Competition is usually good for the consumer. I hope the someone keeps the V-10s and Indys in production. Hopefully the economy will improve in a couple years. Ilmor was doing everything right too by building a reputation of quality and reliability before rushing into more powerful engine builds.
|
That is unfortunate. I have a set in my boat and they are awesome.

Getting a carb for a GM 5.7 in your OMC is not the problem, even getting the shift cables, gears, bearings and gaskets may be difficult but possible most of the time. However try to get the lower case or any other aluminum casting that is older OMC and good luck. I think there are some other Merc. type drives that also fall into this, like a Blackhawk drive. You can get internal parts but don't destroy the case/housing/brackets or you're done.
