I built a 212 and used to routinely power shift at 14,750 rpms. That was leaving some on the table.

Niether the 383,or 454, are called "strokers" as thats the factory stroke, when u add stroke you gain A bunch of tq... And usually hotter chics... But With only a 496,dont get ur hopes up. Lol

When real men talk about strokers they are talking about 600 to 700 cubic inches... The kind where u need an aftermafket block to clear the crank. Ive clearance sbc blocks to build 383s, but never built a 496 as bbc rods cranks and blocks all cost about the same so might as well go huge... Thats the same reasoning hot chicks with big cans use when they are being augmented lol

Btw when youre sitting on a really fat wallet it makes ur junk look much bigger...

Hopefully your 600 to 700 cubic inch stroker comment pertains to small block stuff.

hey rat,you should have built a 283,maybe you could have shifted it at 12000 rpm.

I was looking to buld a 355, but opened the ole bargain trader... And there it all was...70 350 std 4 bolt block 75 bucks. 11.5 to 1 speedpro slugs, std std 3" crank and 9 pink rods and a pack of new arp rod bolts 200 bucks. Open chamber i thi k they were 882 heads 100 bucks already hd 2.02s in Em. 100 bucks for crane .630 lift solid roller cam. Bought the valave train stuff new i think i had justo over 2k in it including a set of headers i built using stall bends and collectors. It was an awesome toy for ripping up the everglades

I had a 69 302 dz motor in my suzuki samaria mudder on 44s i shifted it @9800 rpms. I went small motor low tq cuz i was running a samaria transfer case. When i kept destroying the t cases i swapped the crank and pistons to make it a 383.. And installed a stouter t case... Rm

When i think of destroked i think of putting a 350 crank un a 400 block to make a 377 as oversquare a sbc as posible that will rev to the moon...

thats it..my buddy had a DZ 302 in his dirt track car..aluminum roller motor and he would wind it up to 11k..that 4.125 bore with the 3.38 stroke would really rev..hell a stock dz would rev to 8k..
