You may want to look at making a BMW V12 into a diesel. Their highest rated 3.0L diesel had 376hp and a 5400rpm redline.

Assuming most of the parts are interchangeable you could make a nice 6.0L V12. However, I would still have reservations about temps due to the duty cycle in a boat vs a light car.

Diemax High Performance Diesel Engines - DIEMAX Engines this is a bmw v12 diesel engine 6 litre

I'm pulling for ya Tyson

its a fine line between crapping on his dreams and giving him advice. I suggested he make an aluminum block and head for a 1000hp C18 way up thread but he claimed it would be too heavy at maybe ~2000lbs each.

Think Tyson prefer Cummins.. I prefer FPT..Better package and also some good people at FPT here in Europe..

Tyson. Turbines are your answer buddy. At this point sounds Iike the fuel consumption will be about the same?

Tborisch 11-29-2017 10:19 AM

And I run straight diesel from any marina in mine..

turbom700 11-29-2017 11:26 AM

Arent turbines like 4 times the burn rate then a diesel at cruise.

Tborisch 11-29-2017 11:40 AM

It sounds like these diesels are shaping up to burn a bunch more than a typical diesel.

What is the burn rate on a 1800hp diesel?
