what will run 100mph in 2's and be easy on fuel?

Will a 24 skater do that without beating you to death?

Will a 21 superboat with a 300 run 100?

Looking for something 100mph fast, single eggbeater, that will ride out nice for the skanks, and be easy on fuel. Thx for your advice in advance...rm

speicher lane 04-15-2016 06:13 AM

Had to re-read your post... If I remember correctly a retired race 24 Skater ran just a tick over 100 with the early twin opti's./ tall props (I want to say 225's ??? but not 100% as it's been a while) and it rode nice in 2's... Big single on a 24 - no idea... one on scream and fly and I believe there was one out in Vegas for sale a year plus ago set up in drag form...

You are still going to have to pour fuel through a big OB running top end more often than not to hit the numbers so "easy on fuel" is relative to what???

class6 04-15-2016 06:26 AM

Don't think keeping a 24 Skater going 100+ will be cheap. Not sure if you will like doing it in 2 footers either. Sounds more like your looking for a 28' Skater, Not cheap either

Nate5.0 04-15-2016 06:55 AM

Ya...24' in 2'ers will not be a nice ride.

Taboma 04-15-2016 08:01 AM

A 28 Skater with 300sx's will be the best ride with reasonable fuel burn.

iliveonanisland 04-15-2016 08:03 AM

I havent been around many cats. So dont know how big a cat i would need to run in 2s...

What kind of number would a 21 superboat run with a 300. Im not going to run it wfo all the time, but if top end is around100 i can cruise mid 80s is my plan. Cant be much bigger than 21 ft as it has to have a single ob for power.

I want a small boat as i plan to put a pair of 6" pilings into the water on an angle and stake them in to position so i can use the trailer without tires to pull the boat out of the water using a winch. So smaller is better.
In the early am its like glass here with 6" ripples, but the waves pick up as the day goes on.

i figured a cat would be the most fuel efficient ride... Thx for the info

iliveonanisland 04-15-2016 08:15 AM

Im looking for a fast ride for running errands etc, needs to be able to carry 4 people and groceries... a lot of groceries lol

I really want something with a single, for several reasons... the shipping, cost to buy, dont wanna feed two engines, pulling it out of the water, etc....

whats out there for small Vs that will run near 100 in 2s? Thx rm

Taboma 04-15-2016 08:27 AM

You are asking for a lot from a small "V", single engine boat. 4 people, and a lot of weight (groceries) and cruise at 80MPH! It will be interesting to see what others come up with. Where do you live?

Wildman_grafix 04-15-2016 08:31 AM

It's Rat Man, living in Colombia.

....and I am looking for a mid 20's-30 year old blonde, 5'9"-5'11", size 2-4, DD's, low maintenance, faithful and preferably with a large trust fund.

Sorry, I just had to...

Nate5.0 04-15-2016 08:34 AM

Checkmate makes a 21/22 with a single that runs pretty stout.

fatherb68 04-15-2016 08:35 AM

A 21V super boat, challenger, progression, ect. set up right with a 300x single should run 85-90. If you spend the time and money on set up, you might do a little better. if you use a 300xs you will do better on fuel but loose a few mph.

Don't think you will find anything to fill that bill.

Dave M 04-15-2016 10:25 AM

Pretty sure a 21 Superboat will be in the low 90's

bobkatz 04-15-2016 10:33 AM

partlowr 04-15-2016 10:39 AM

More often than not i will be running it solo or with a skank, just want the four person capacity in case i have to scoop up a couple clients in cartagena. Im not dead set on a 100 but want something fast and as fuel efficient as possible inboards are out, everything down here runs eggbeaters...

I was even thinking like a challenger or other small v, i dont know how they run in chop though, i do know super boats run hard in the ruff. But think a 300 would only put a 21 superboat in the 80s.

I know it takes a bunch of hp to get a 24x7 into the 80s.

I was eveen thinking a donzi 18 if i bought a project and reworked the rear to hold a big ob...

I like the cats for fuel burn and speed to hp... how fast could a 24 skater be run in 2s? Thx guys

class6 04-15-2016 04:43 PM

To run a 24 Skater 100 mph. You will need. A helmet. A real good life vest. 2 engines. Big set of nuts and a whole lot of talent

Of the boats you mentioned which has the lightest hull?

I like the superboats been around a while never heard anyone badmouth them.

What is the build quality on the challengers? I know they are fast, but dont know how they hold up to a beating.

Isnt the progression a 22/24 V ?

Im ok at 90mph not hell bent on a 100.

I would think a small cat would have a big speed advantage over the v's, but not seeing that here from what you guys are telling me! Thx brahs for your input
