The only thing I'm concerned about is people in the water near the boat when I'm in gear. I was around seven or eight at a local lake. We where near the launch ramp courtesy dock. A guy was getting ready to leave and didn't notice his teenage age daughter coming aboard via the swim platform. She dove off the dock to dunk herself to cool off before getting on the boat. Anyway, regardless she was on the swim platform ladder when he put the boat in gear. Needless to say the prop got her thigh. Second or first worse accident I've witnessed. So now if in an area with swimmers or people that maybe still on the swim platform. I make sure all is clear of my stern before putting it in gear.

My friend has a Chris Craft Stinger 415 ,restored. Beautiful looking with 750 HP twins. It's LOUD. We would back it into a slip at a local restaurant/bar and everyone would clap when he shut down. Never knew whether it was because he docked it so well, or they were just glad he finally shut off! Either way it was fun!

0 ****s given, the cruisers at my local Marina think it's cute to wake each other up at 5am with air horns across the docks.

Time to order dry pipes.

When the SCOPE group out here used to hang out at the yard house in long beach every weekend about people would applaud when you'd shut the boat down. The water is about 10' bellow the deck of the restaurant but it was loud. You had to yell over the exhaust if you were sitting in the deck and someone was backing in or leaving. Lol. The good ol days. There's pics floating around of all the boats backed into the slips. Pretty funny.

When I had my Checkmate with the 548 efi, I thought the motor sounded a lot quieter than I expected being it was an all out 700+ hp build. I found out it was EXTREMELY loud once I backed into a covered slip haha. I was nice about it and would shut it off as quick as I could after backing in and would push halfway out before firing it up to leave.

Now my new boat has captains choice, I usually fire the motors open and immediately shut once both are going as I cant hear the cranking well to light off second one when exhaust is closed.

I love my loud boat and any others but I can't stand the jackazz with loud pipes that lets his motors warm up for 20 minutes inside the slip/marina before he decides to finally head out. Fire up and head out, keeps everyone happy happy happy

This is what I do as well, my boat seems to fire up better and quicker with the exhaust open(I think it because it has to push the water out of the y-pipe when they are closed) sometime I just say f-it and run her open as I think it sounds amazing with the slight turbo whistle when you put it in gear!!

Slightly off topic but in late Aug I was launching at a place called Bay Habor public lanuch/marina. When I start cold I have let my engines idle about 1700 rpm for at least 60-120 sec or I will stall. Well, one friday about 5 pm with no one in sight I fired up and getting ready to light the second I see a guy in the corner of my eye and was he MAD!!!!!!!!!!! Yelling turn it down turn it down. I cant do anything and I told him that. So I fire the second idle for a min and leave. By the time we left his face was red and yelling FU flipping us off etc. He claimed he had people sleeping on his boat about 80 yards away. Not really sure what he was so upset about but wow he was sure fired up. In the end another couple had made their way over to check out our boat and they started flipping that guy off. As I was pulling out his last words were Im calling the police. I finally had enough and told him "Fine. Go ahead but have them meet me in Petoskey. I m headed there now"
