We have had that discussion. The problem is budget. We don't have the budget to develop a surface type drive for a single engine v-hull that has never had a surface drive on it. There is also the $8000 per propeller to look at. And from what I've been told, the #6 aren't any stronger than an SCX which is much more cost effective.

What would you suggest as an option? This has been an ongoing discussion of ours for about 6 months now.
It wont be that hard to dial in. That dude with the 18 donzi with an arneson that runs 123mph got that sorted without changing drive height or jumping through hoops. Its the most straight forwatd drive system there is. Put a liberty trans in front of it and spend ur time and money dialing it in instead of using your money to replace exploded drives and tramnys. You want a bullet proof package bro. Just my .02 |

Got to go arneson and heres why. That 5" stroke is gonna make stump pullin tq all the time even when ur not on the throttles, with a big hp/tq blower motor when u chop the throttle the cyl pressure and tq go away but not on the 5"stroker motor.

Not all of them. The Doc's boat which is Mark's Buddy. Has one of the nicest boats I've ever seen it has a #5 on it which is a surface drive and runs in the 120's. Mange's boat has a #6 on it.
Single engine 30ft double-step v-hull with an Arneson isn't very common from what I've been told. Hopefully BUP can chime in on this. |
