Ok here's the facts and why I even busted Phils azz to begin with when he was talking smack about smoking. Me.
Many will agree with this yet never say so in public, I know this per personal conversation and PM over time.
Fact: when it's rough out in my area I am always 1 of a very select few boats out having fun while others stay on land, normally it's myself and Rob with his 36 Apache... MAYBE 2-3 other boats in general area...
Facts are he has never ran in any rough water with that boat let alone Lake Erie or any other Great Lake, so he has zero experience doing so, it will take him a day boating in it to learn the water and set up boat to run in it at all, it's easy to navigate a Great Lake on a 30-40 mph wind day period.
Fact: My boat is a heavy old boat with DEEP Trs drives, I run the boat nearly every weekend in any condition, been in storms, rain, even snow in early April...
Fact: Phil has a arneson Hustler he has ran in flat water only...I have been told by many a Hustler is not a great rough water boat but known more for top speed in a light chop, not easy to set up and stay hooked in rough Great Lake water with no experience at all doing ever once before.
Fact: I have many videos of me in rough water and phil has zero clearly info this a lot more then he ever thought about doing.
Fact: I never said Lake Erie is the roughest ever like he claims... but anyone local knows exactly how it can be.
Fact: I never said a arneson equipped boat cannot run rough water, I said a Hustler with them and a 21 year old driver with zero experience cannot... I still say that's true..
Fact: I don't hate Phil just hate his lies.
Fact: I can care less if he ever comes here or I go anywhere else, I am going to do what I do if he shows up one day and lakes crankin... well my go pro is always in the boat will be a good video... my best friend has a 107 mph Formula... with short drives a huge props he can't touvh me in rough water... I will dig up the video showing us going from flat water in bay where he was way ahead of me to when his boat was starting to fly and he could not stay into it... and the old 70 mph Trs boat just kept going...

I have never seen you run your boat or been in a mistress but I know my boat runs 91 with 575 a side, I think it might just stand a chance against the mistress. So I don't really understand how Phil's boat with arnesons and a couple hundred extra hp per side wouldnt stand a chance. But like I said I have never seen you run a boat or seen a mistress run in person.
I would be willing to purchase a few cold beverages tow my boat a little ways and meet up with some like minded individuals to see how things shake out and have a fun day on the water.

4bus and Icdedppl nailed it about Roto, in my opinion as well.
While I do think many over estimate the roughness of loto , it is by no means "calm" on a busy holiday weekend. Its a challenge to drive there for all the reasons they said. Confused waters , boats coming from every direction, tons of boats with not much room to maneuver at times. Certainly capable of getting a 38 Cig or 41 apache aired out.
Obviously the great lakes waves can get larger. Ive been out on lake michigan many times where I was legitly concerned I was gonna crack the hull open , in all of my boats. Its no fun in that water. On moderately rough days, it can be alot of fun, and get to run an offshore boat, well, like an offshore boat.
What i do like about roto, is there isnt a time where Id feel land locked due to conditions. So, even on the roughest weekends, Id have no safety qualms about traveling 30 plus miles in the roto slop, as long as you use your head, in a decent sized boat.
End of the day, boating is supposed to be fun. Fun for you, and fun for your crew. Back when i had big slow boats, it was only fun, if the lake was rough. Going 65mpg in a 40ft vee on flat water , was like watching paint dry to me. So I hoped for rough waters, to make it exciting. Now that I have a faster boat, with bigger power, i dont need big waves to get an adreneline rush. Im sure at some point, going 95 on flat water will get boring, and ill want more power, or a faster hull. Thats the hobby we chose.
If going fast on flat water gets you hard, go for it. If plowing theu big swells at 60mph gets you hard, go for it. Thats why we have cats, vees, big, small, various deadrises, different style of drives, and so on. The internet is filled with mines better than yours, and mostly from opinions that hold no water.

I certainly dont walk up to a guy with a 30ft cat that goes 130+, and tell him "i bet i can beat you when the water kicks up".
Thats like walking up to a guy with a 911 Carrera turbo and saying "you might be faster, but my lincoln town car has a better ride".

The whole thing started when Phil and others call my boat a old slow POS every chance they get, I think it's funny that he and others can rip apart the boat I love, put a lot of money into and enjoy calling it a POS but if I say anything at all I am the jerk.... all I said was I could take him in rough water on Erie... he said otherwise so that's what happened...Phil pounds his chest about having such a fast boat and how bad mine sucks, well mines paid for and I prefer it that way... could I take a loan out and get a TS boat that runs 100+? sure.. I chose not to.. that's my choice..this whole thing is blown way out of portion and I am over it. Phil even said 2-3's hes doing 70-80... try that in 3-5's and bigger lests see how that goes.
Withtnhe money I have invested if all out speed was my goal I could have clearly paid for a different boat.... mid 70's is fine for me, if I chose to go faster later I will address that then.
the moistress comments, the POS comments, the Tim sucks comments and all that is ok by others but god forbid I make a comment... whatever.....it's my hard work and dedication that makes me feel good about what I do, most would have given up long ago... I get zero credit for any of the good I have done, I made a few posts proving the reliability of 2 seasons on these engines, skimmed right over.... as usual, OSO focuses on bashing me into the ground.
