I believe you. It is a scientific fact that lake erie gets rough. It is also a scientific fact, Lake Michigan, superior, huron, ontario, atlantic and pacific ocean, and gulf of mexico also gets rough. You guys over there arent the only ones who can appreciate the ride of a 47 apache, straight bottom cig, scarab, etc. Just like daves story of this scarab blowing the props loose, been there before on lake michigan. Ran with a buddy with a 40ft cat that stood that thing on its azz end over and over again , while my 40ft formula with 24 deg straight vee blew the cabin closet doors off, broke the air conditioner, put a stress crack on the deck midship that you could have passed a silver dollar through., and sheared the fuel tank access panel screws off . It wasnt a video where the props never leave the water, and the throttle levers get pulled back once every 30 seconds, where i see guys calling it "5ft'ers"
I have been on Erie since i was five years old in 1971, my first solo trip to Put in Bay i did at age 13 in a sixteen foot Lyman Islander with a 20 mile run from our cottage at Long Beach by Davis Besse, actually went to the small basin at the foot of the monument then did a lap of the entire island and then home took ALL day lol. I learned boat handling, reading weather and water and respect at a very early age, and what a great place to learn  |
