Ya we will see. I'm more interested in seeing the NA DOHC motor that will make around 850-900. My guess is 2 year warranty and 500 hours before rebuild. It will do to the I/O market what the 400 has done.

PS- Dale those 500s on your boat will just be flat out awesome!

It would be nice to see some of those 500's show up on performance V hulls. Twins on a 30ish boat would be a hard runner.

I wish the HP increase were real as well as available before my order is placed. According to the CNC verado prop guy at Mercury racing, it only a rumor. It only logical that they evolve this platform to higher levels since they are selling so many.

You can't just increase the boost by changing a pulley like someone said in this thread. The boost in controlled by the ECU and the SC is setup to run at full capacity and then boost limited in software. This ensures a constant 400 hp to the prop under most all conditions. The boost can be raised through an aftermarket tune already offered, but the design limits the increase to only 25hp. Going higher requires a larger whipple SC as well as other changes from Mercury.

Im sure alot of these inboard lovers would be happy to hear that because they cant stand for an outboard boat running pass them.

Actually, I was just commenting on the fact that there will NOT be a Merc 500 Hp O/B this year, little birdie told me so :), so it's not a slight towards O/Bs, of which, we own 1 now. Our next boat will be either a diesel powered or O/B powered.....

Early verado lowers had issues at much lower ratings. I hope you're right though.

I hate to throw a wet towel on this campfire. But this is a Photoshop deal. The last time Mercury had a big outboard release was the 400. I got four of them before the show. We have no 450's. We have no 500's. Be prepared to be disappointed at Miami if you actually think this is happening.
