One thing is for sure, if Steve1 builds you a boat, it will be the "STRAIGHTEST" and "STRONGEST" boat you ever own. Oh yeah, and the FASTEST!

The only way you have a 9" hard shaft is if it isn't yours and most likely black......oh ouch

DEVIL MAN 01-09-2003 03:08 PM

Stinson...you are still bitter from the time I spanked your silly little ass in my old potato chip with engines Fountain!!!!!! You were running those upper pulleys that were the size of a dime and twenty four pounds of boost and you couldn't run with me....and that was a 38 Fountain with four pounds of boost and a cabin!!!!! Now with the Devil boat, you would not even be in the game!!!!! Even with you trimming that baby halfway to the moon and telling your driver to turn the wheel before you run up on the beach!!!! Who are you kidding????? Nobody on the left coast!!!

DMan...and the D is for Stinson is still Delerious from the wedding ceremony!!!!!

Steve 1 01-09-2003 03:37 PM

.....

sean stinson 01-09-2003 03:46 PM

My old buddy the D-Man, now if I remember correctly I was at the time running the boat that I use for my avatar. I also remember being the first one back and waiting at the breakwater for 10 minutes and the first boat was Jeffery in Ruckus which happens to be a Cigarette. Now then with Poppie Int'l as my witness to these events after another 10 minutes here comes this Red Fountain called Feverish and I ask "Poppie look DMan has a new swimming pool maybe we should give them some towels or better yet a new bilge pump lunch wont be fun when you're wet".

Also this was with a full pleasure 41' Apache weighing in at 14500 lbs and we didn't even spill our cocktails.....So is your ass still chapped from the spanking you received from the hands of Mr. Stinson........

BTW the D is for Desert Warrior wannabe

Brad 01-09-2003 04:06 PM

Since I think I'm the only one who responded they would go with the Cigarette I have aquestion for the Apache tribe.

The only Apaches I have been on are the 28 and 36. On these boats I don't think the dash layout or finish is as nice as the Cig's.

Other than rough water ability why do you prefer Apaches?

How do you think the Apache 36 compares to a TopGun?

Back4More 01-09-2003 04:09 PM

I would only go new!

I vote for the 42 XP...only because its new technology.
The second choice would be a 41 Apache.

DEVIL MAN 01-09-2003 04:12 PM

It is funny Stinson....I just called Poppie and King Poodle and along with me, they do not ever recall this incident taking place....sounds like you are starting to come up with the old Stinson excuses...too numerous to mention. The only thing the fellows remembering is you blowing up engines, drives and transmissions trying to get that pig to break 80!!!! They both recall having a hoot when your boost gauge read 24 pounds and you claiming the engines were built for that boost!!!! Better off that you quit now while you are only a little behind....I don't think you really want to go toe to toe with me on swapping stories of each other. Unfortunately, my lifestyle is quite boring compared to yours. You are still the all time poodle no matter what story you put in print...I know, the poodles know it and we will just leave it there. Glad I could get a rise out of you Sir Isaac Newton!!!!!! Still my favorite on the Theory of Relativity!!!!

DMan...and the D is for Those pulley's were the size of DIMES!!!!!!

WARRIORMAN 01-09-2003 09:39 PM

Brad, what do you mean that you don't like the layout. Are you nuts? And as far as the finish, I think I can speak for others that you will be hard pressed to find anything nicer.
As for my vote, I think you have figured it out by now. I am and will always be an APACHE fan. :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

sean stinson 01-09-2003 09:52 PM

Sir Isaac Newton said to refer to the Cheif Engine ad in Powerboat Magazing
I have never blown up a speed master drive unlike you. It also seems to me that in my recent conversation with PI that as usual, you lose something in the translation.

I always knew that the D stood for delirious.

I would personally want to have all the gauges in front of me, not having to look at the other side of the boat to check gauges. Just my opinion.

Robert

Roger 1 01-10-2003 12:26 PM

HEY LOOK! For some reason they decided to mount the gauges in front of the driver in the APACHE!

Robert,
When I'm running hard I like the idea of a qualified pasenger helping me monitor the guages.

Actually one of the best layouts I have seen for a dash is on this Commanche 36.

Roger 1 01-10-2003 12:33 PM

Also, what year Cigarette and What year Apache? I agree that the Apache could stand a cosmetic upgrade but the layout is more functional.

Tonto 01-10-2003 12:49 PM

Brad
I agree that when running hard having some help keeping an eye on the critical stuff. It is alot easier to place the gauges for two people to monitor when you have a center-steer boat. Mine was set up for a throttle person on the left, center steer, nav/fuel management on right. The throttle person also helps me monitor the gauges and read the water. I was/am not trying to put anyones boat or dash down, just giving my $0.02 worth. And hey with the cockpit like your boat, you get all the chicks :D , remember Savannah!
Robert

Brad, BTW, are ya'll going to Savannah for St. Patty's day?

sean stinson 01-10-2003 02:03 PM

Personally I like it when the gauges are grouped in sets of two for each engine.....ie: 2 knock meters then 2 oil pressure then 2 fuel pressure then 2 water pressure.....it's easier for me too read when you have to glance at groups instead of cluster arrangments.......Sean

The door is electric and it closes by two switches are with remote. I have had more fun opening the cabin door and engine hatch remotely for people who are looking at the boat and don't know I'm around.

Robert,
I spoke wiht Russ earlier this week and may try to make it. I'm going with Stu to Hawks Cay next week.

Tonto 01-10-2003 02:12 PM

Brad

Better take your fleece lined panties on that one. I think this cold front is going all the way south. I'm leaving for Daytona on Sun. 12th to go to Marine Performance. I hope to be coming home on Wed., maybe I'll see ya'll on the road :D . Hope ya'll can make the Savannah trip.

Stinson

The wat APACHE originally did my boat was to put the gauges for the forward engine on teh top row and the rear on the bottom row so you can glance a nd know which engine you're looking at.

This is the only picture I have of an Apache, but the 2002 36 I have seen looks the same.

Quiet Storm 01-10-2003 02:30 PM

Hey Jack

Is your post #65 the dash of my boat?:D

Roger

Tonto 01-10-2003 02:35 PM

Quiet Storm

That is the dash out of a 36 that is here in Ga. on Lake Lanier named "AIRTIME"

Robert

Roger 1 01-10-2003 02:39 PM

Roger;
It must be yours I don`t think he has a picture of mine. This is starting to confuse me..........Roger 1

Quiet Storm 01-10-2003 02:48 PM

Tonto

Its too bad its not mine. I'd be proud to own a dash like that.

Roger

Do you think we could start miss spelling your name again(Rodger)? I'm having a hard time with this too.

Roger

DEVIL MAN 01-10-2003 05:07 PM

Once again Stinson....you are always talking out of turn or something you have absolutely no knowlege about. Read my lips...I have absolutely never in my life blown up a #6 drive....period, end of story. Sorry to bust your bubble....I am really glad you are wrong on that accusation....as for your mechanical problems....well, what else can I say except it is a good thing you are a master mechanic!!!!! Don't push me Stinson or we will get into some serious wrestling trivia...and no cheating by looking up the answers on the net!!!!!!

DMan....and the D is for the Magnificent Don Marocco!!!!!!

APACHE

I like many things about the 36 APACHE over the cafe or top gun. I looked long and hard at both, they all are nice boats. I am 6'4 and 255 so the apache has more freeboard and a much bigger head. Tighter cockpit for hard running in big seas, and very few of these boats were built around 100 in the world. Just wanted something a little more rare and something that BOBBY BUILT.

ShipWrecked 01-12-2003 10:11 AM

I beleive the "exclusivity" is a good thing and helps to keep the resale higher. Personally, I don't think the person who is looking for an Apache could care less about the "so-called" confusion of who made them, they just know they want one. Actually, over the past decade, Cigarette has been bankrupted and changed hands many times. I would be curious to see some statistics on resale of the two, my bet is the Apache brings a higher dollar. After all, my guess is that the popularity of the Apaches in the 80' and 90's helped keep Cigarette alive!
