My story is straight. Who did you think of when I said cigarette and Apache. You knew exactly who I was talking about. So I think my story is straight. I didnt need to mention names. When you say cigarette thats Arnows boat ,every one knows that. He built the molds for Donzi, Magnum, Formula, And Apache. The 24,28,36,39,41,47. All of those built in the 70s are the same molds apache used for their boats. And what does Apache build now 28,36,41,47. Cigarette molds. Or for you steve 1 Arnow's molds. Of course Apache handles rough water great it was designed by Arnow. Who cares who owns them, its the Desighner of the mold that really makes a boat. Yeah Cigarette had been sold many times but their molds have been used in many boats. If my information source is wrong please let me know. |
Tom McCann - No big deal, but Aronow had nothing to do with Cigarette when Bobby purchased the 41 molds, he was operating as USA at the time, but I am sure he used a little of his "past" experience when building it. The 28 and 36 were done "exclusively" by Bobby in his shop on 188th. Then Baja "popped" the 28 Apache to build the 302.

I may be wrong, but I think Craig Barrie and crew built our 94 Cig and we LOVE IT, I'll take that history anyday.
Skip Braver had a 42 Fountain, spent alot of time on our boat with the previous owner, bought a Tiger and then bought the company. People must like Cigarette or the 600th Top Gun wouldn't have been recently built. And in this economy no less. All these companies have a checkered past look at the $$$ that built Apache and where it came from? For the record, we looked at 36's and 41's and bought a 38 Cig. The cabin, cockpit and dash layouts are much better in my opinion. Another big factor was how long it would take to move one when it came time to sell. Dean |
WWW.APACHEUSA.COM........kinda makes the hair stand up on my neck.cant wait to see the finished product:cool:
|
not an expert, but i heard something about all the 8' beam boats scaled off 27' magnum sport. molds are important, but so is the human element involved.
c'ya lucy. |
how many cig top guns delaminated in mid 80's. a bunch. one called lone shark from diversy.another in jackson park.should i keep going?
amf. |
Mark I don't know, don't own one from the 80's
|
Are you picking on me Jack?
|
Is your 79 going to be on the lake this year???
|
Hey Mark, you should know, wasnt it a flatdeck in to 80's and Top Gun in the 90's?
|
Was hoping to see it, I hear it's beautiful....
|
I have never seen an 80's boat that said Top Gun, thats why I am curious...
|
Where is Craig Barrie when you need him.
|
I am sorry we won't see it this season, good luck though.
|
The Top Gun came out in 1987...prior to that it was called the SE and Flat Deck.
|
Thanks Sean.
|
no prob zooooom...nice 'Gun you've got..BTW.
|
Thanx, actually I work on it, the wife owns it....haha
|
Zoom, Let me see if I got that right.
Skip owns a 42 Fountain, then buys a Tiger...its too slow, then buys Cigarette Racing, now as owner all the new Cigs have twin step bottoms and run 10-20 miles per hour faster for some reason.....Hmmmmm. Looks like the new Cigs have a little Fountain heritage now.:hammy: |
Nooooooooooo, not what I meant at all, it was that after riding on our boat he got out of his starter boat into a real boat......
hahaha, F U Mark. P.S. can I still ride on your boat for Smoke? |
If you wax my "FOUNTAIN" I'll think about it...shouldn't be too much more than waxing yours, its only 4 feet longer.
F U Dean....LMAO:p |
OK boss whatever you want. Tanner says I'm ok as crew, maybe he'll write me a reference letter that I can submit for your review.
BTW, did you get that retroactive Reggie starter kit I ordered for you. FU,FU,FU and FU Love, Dean |
And when you get the kit I want a name change "Pimp 4 More"
|

It looks like the Cigarette owner were letting Apache owners have their day. But when Apache owners start bashing Cigarettes, Cigarette owners will let te truth be known :D
 |
So, whos going to annswer my question? What year was the last championship won by an Apache? Fred IS the voice of reason..... answer....1984...19 years ago |
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!!!
|
Fortunately, I’m not old enough to forget everything yet but, still old enough to remember when Offshore Racing was still raced ummmmmm..............can you say OFFSHORE! Maybe these boats were running so far ummmmm................OFFSHORE that no one saw them but, here are a few facts I can still remember;
1997 Superboat World Champion 41’ Apache / Lipship 1993 Superboat World Champion 47’ Apache / Heritage 1993 “D” Class US Offshore World Champion 41’ Apache / J&H Electric 1992 Superboat World Champion 47’ Apache / Heritage 1992 US 1 Superboat National Champion 45’ Apache / Kid Apache 1991 APBA Open National Champion 41’ Apache / Dollar Marine 1990 APBA Open National Champion 41’ Apache / Dollar Marine 1989 Superboat World Champion 47’ Apache / Little Caesar’s Pizza 1988 APBA Modified World Champion 41’ Apache / Little Caesar’s Pizza 1986 APBA US 1 National Champion 41’ Apache Catamaran / Team Apache (Saccenti, Kramer) 1984 APBA World Champion 41’ Apache / Warpath (Saccenti, Kramer) Even our marketplace competitors endorsed us.................ANY QUESTIONS! |
How many of these boats were built by Bobby? I don`t have a great depth of knowledge on Apache history, just a question.
|
Glad to see the Eric has done his homework and knows the facts!
|
Roger,
That post is not about who built what, only that Apache Powerboats have won more World & National Titles than was given mention to previously in this thread. And I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few. |
1997 Superboat World Champion 41’ Apache / Lipship |
In my opinion, many of todays boats wouldn't last in true offshore racing...for instance, the Cigarette "Yachts International" would more than likely break up before it finished a "TRUE" Miami to Bimini and back race...so where is the actual testing? There is none, just drag racing in a circle. MILLIONS of dollars went into the Apache program were they were "TESTED" and perfected in "Real" offshore conditions...Apache doesn't brag about TOP END smooth water speed, they are seeking out the customer who wants something strong, comfortable and performs FANFKNTASTIC in big seas. Ride in any other boat, then jump into an Apache - same day, same seas - and then YOU be the judge!
TooOld - you should know, you have one of the REAL Cigarettes that set their standards back then! |
