Yes, but knowing you have to dump big $$$$ into it before you even buy it, is hard to take. The selling price should reflect that. It's not going to because the owner is going to lose too much compared to what these blue motors cost him to start with. Who wants to spend good money on a boat and then put $16000 into it or take a chance on ruining a $25000 motor. I haven't been in to this performance boat thing at all yet, so I'm maybe off base, but this is what it seems to me while looking to buy. Unless I could find a blue motor with low hrs or has already been refreshed/rebuilt. I think I just want to use the boat and not worry so much about short oil changes, refreshing, and rebuilding. But thats me and everyone is different. Blue motor or not, there will be someone faster. Just like snowmobiling, there always is.

Let's all remember that BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand! F-2 Speedy has it right. You have got to expect that issues will develop and have a contingency plan (cash). I run 653" 1471 supercharged Zul's in the Tiger, not thrilled about the cost of rebuilding them, but will eventually have to. We all bite off what we think we can chew, then choke a little as gag reflex sets in! Any venue that touts high performance is expensive. I was a member of a competitive and successful snowmobile race team about 15 years ago. The sponsor spent upwards of a million dollars in 4 years of racing, to win trophies and bragging rights. A lot of this comes down to ego and pocket depth. OP, you seem to understand your limits, you will be fine.
