There will always be after market BBC in boats, it doesn't need to be black, blue or orange to make power and be reliable......but the 700 package stood the test of time well.

Roughly $60-70k more per set I was told. I could've waited but I liked the 700s and the difference almost paid for my whole F650.

Motor was a dinosaur that nobody was buying anyway. The cat builders will use the 860 as the base offering, the bigger V bottoms will do the same. The only boats left out would be like a 39 Cig or OL 41 that wanted 1400 HP vs. going to a pair of 565's (too small). A "entry level" offering from Cig/OL/Fountain will use the 540/565. Boats like the 33/37 AT's were pretty much using the 525-565 power anyway (AT built 3 700 boats). The extra money really hurts the entry level price point.
