I have this one. Nothing protruding to get scraped on and it's stainless. https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-1374...connector.aspx

No valves needed. Connect garden hose to fitting and turn on the water. With motor off, the water will flush outwards to thru the drive. Then simply start the motor with the water still on, and the seawater pump will pull the water thru the motor instead of going out the drive.
Does anyone know the material (stainless, plastic, etc...) of the Mercruiser "T" (more like a "Y"?

The valve is there so the cooling water goes one way, into the sea pump/engine, not back out the drive.

You guys are complicating this too much. Buy the kit that Diamond linked. Install.
Leave the valve on all the time, even when flushing on the lift. The only time to turn the valve off is when you are in saltwater and staying overnight. Under those circumstances turn the valve off before you flush so you don't get seawater in and you can get a nice fresh water flush - the sailboater beside you might not like your Marina flush down but 90% of people at the docks won't care......

I've order two Diamond standard flushing kits (one for each motor). Man, the raw water pumps are "buried" in the engine bay! Is there some indicator on the pump as to which side/hose is the inlet and which is the outlet? Its hard to see anything down there/upside down.
I want to put the flushing system on the inlet side (drawing water from the drives).
Thanks for all the support for this newbie!
