Reggie III on Facebook today saying that pic is from the current Kilo race boat 40' hull. He says that's was the top speed at the end of their fastest one way run during the Kilo timing. They also built an identical raceboat in all carbon going to race & looks identical to the Kilo boat.

Bingo!

Tons and tons of time and money.

So ask, who's and how much?

The numbers previously posted still boggle my mind.

The post about the APBA Kilo runs are spot on.
Being an O/B guy, I regularly hear the Merc guys bragging they could easily break the 30 yr old single O/B record held by an OMC because a guy saw 155 on a GPS.

Last I heard, a true "Kilo Record-run" is 1 kilo run in, 1 kilo timed, 1 kilo run out.
Totalling 3 kilometers per pass.
According to my math that's 1.86 miles!

Most hot rod motors would be glowing ingots at that point.

Now, turn around and do it again.
Yikes!

Lots of teams go after records.
Very few succeed.

The Fountains last attempt illustrate what can happen when you publicize the attempt before having hard numbers.
From a marketing stand point, very, very risky.

I give them a TONNNNNNN of respect and hope they try again and succeed.

Any update on status of the boat/engines? Record attempt? Have I missed something?

You haven't missed anything. The project is ongoing—progress reportedly is solid—and the best will most likely return to the water this fall.

I know that's a bit light on detail but that's all I have right from on-the-record sources at Fountain.

Rest assured, we'll be all over it when the project resumes.

I was there for the first attempt. Rode down with the Lilly's over night. Whirlwind trip. Left at like midnight drove all night, showed up like an hour before the attempt(after getting the motor home stuck on the towing hitch at 5:30 a.m. turning around for coffee for Art.) Joey Griffin drove us around all morning. Watched the run and were back on the road after eating breakfast. Quick trip but a blast even though I was up 36ish hours straight! Hope be able to make the next attempt.

They switched to the Bak Bakflip. Much easier to fold and access.
