Kilo Record Eludes Fountain

They won't have a problem at all putting you a big number. They were rushed and weren't ready. They only tested 3 or 4 days and through up Some good numbers. They even went as far as saying they wanted to do it before the miami show, sounds like the powers to be wanted it before they were ready.
The boat put up a 185mph pass and not even dialed in. Now that they are off the clock and things settle down Reggie will use what they learned and careful get everything in order. If they were making passes like that with a boat that wasn't dial in can you imagine what's going to happen when the boat is ready.
They made a mistake of using the kilo attempt as a test season, at it to the bank that won't happen again.

i think a big step hull is a disadvantage, reggie his own self said the steps are out of the water at full throttle.
the boat is running nose high on the last 6 - 8 feet, instead of nice flat and straight like the ol does on little steps
my guess would be more stable w/ a longer amount of keel in the water, easier to go straight- easier to go fast,
conditions not quite so critical because you aren't flying 34 feet of boat, you got 34 feet of keel- flying 9 feet
by virtue of the hulls shape.
*all numbers are guesstimates and do not include beak bustle and other b.s.

running on steps further forward would have the tendency to want to swap ends imo

Maybe they need the beak.
Billy’s 42 PR seems to really air out and pack air under the boat.

Great job Reggie, you didn’t need to set a new V-bottom speed record to confirm that you remain in 1st place as a risk taker and a master at marketing. You have earned the respect of the entire high performance boating community.

Though reading the comments on this thread is entertaining, I think the only thing anyone can say with absolute certainty is this: Kilo records are not easy. There's a deep chasm between a theoretical average kilo run speed and achieved average kilo run speed.
Carry on, gentlemen.

There’s a big difference between making noise and good marketing. Whether they set a new record or not, I don’t think 42 lightnings will be flying off the shelf. But I wish them the best.

And??
OL had a peak speed of over 190mph when they did testing for the Kilo. Still have to hold and average it for 2 passes to obtain a kilo record.
Where's the GPS picture of 200mph like R3 claimed it would run? You think Reggie would have grounded R3 from social media after all the propaganda he spewed before the kilo attempt.
