I think the hatch is key. Creating vacuum. I know of a very fast skater back in the day that picked up 25MPH in the shootout just by putting the engine hatches back on. Still shots show the vacuum on the rear.

Lots of armchair quarterbacking going on here. Let's just say that if it was as easy to break the record as many people here seem to think, somebody else would have done it already. I'm sure Reggie & company will be back soon and bump the record up.

No no no, we’re talking about boats in this thread not football. But yes Brett Favre should not have thrown roughly 42% of the passes he did.

200 should be no problem on the next attempt. I received word today that the boat has been transported to the great Barron's secret compound for refinements and updating.

Are you saying that they are going to drop the 1900hp Sterlings in and slap "FOUNTAIN" on the side of the OL Kilo boat?

I have got to be one of the biggest Fountain fans ever, however I just do not understand the approach to this deal. Tons of money into a whole new hull when the original record holder is still out there, rigged and set up to run a number very close to where they want to be. Why would one not just take the proven hull, add some horsepower, update prop tech and just go out there and do it.
I do not mean to make lite of this attempt but can not wonder if this was the prudent route.

So the boat is being taken to another facility to be worked on to make it faster? Is that what your saying?
