Default Sterndrives will not go down..

Hello Everyone,

I purchased a 38 foot powerquest boat a couple of weeks ago and I am trying to figure out why the drives do not go down.. I have power when I push the switches up and hear the pumps but, when I push the switches in the down position there is no sound of the sterndrive pumps .. Any ideas would be helpful for this newbie powerboater ..

Go to the trim pump and jump the solenoid. The green wire is for down, blue is for up, just ran into this issue last weekend. You can get a new solenoid from napa if that is your issue.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago when it wouldn't go down. I checked the package and it said that "If it stays up for more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical attention."

On a more serious note, check the solenoids.

I had a feeling you might say that. I crawled around it when it was in Dallas before going to CA. It has been sitting for a while, you may just need to bump the solenoids to get everything moving again.

Good luck.
