Brand new ZRC Donzi
#11
First I’ll say it is without question a great looking boat . But :..... why would donzi build a new “older “ model now ? Seems like a reach to me. What’s the price point ? Is it new lighter materials ?

Couple things that jump out to me are the fact that it isnt even the latest greatest ZRC 4 step hull, so the 700/NXT boats with whipple upgrades will probbaly outrun these new 2 step boats with 860's. Also, it looks like a 2004 with those quarter canopies. They def should've went with a wrap around windshield.

I love that they are building new ones. But I feel like if I had that cash rattling around in my pocket, I'd want to get one that has a new and improved hull to match those engines. Some perceived elevated value would be great.

They did receive the 2step mold but unfortunately accidentally destroyed it along with the 38 Lightning, 38 ZR, and 35 Lightning molds by accident. Some guys at the factory were instructed to go out and bust up some old Baja molds but instead went and crushed the above. Sickening. Iconic bought an old 2004 ZRC to make a new plug from and that is what they used to produce the new boat.

Was the 4 step hull completely different than the 2 step (like they made the 2 bigger steps smaller?) or did they just modify the 2 step hull by adding an additional 2 smaller steps? If it was the latter then there is no reason they couldn't have taken the 2 step hull they bought and used it as a buck to add the additional steps and any other changes to it before pulling new molds. I agree with the statements on the canopies. Deck should have been updated to eliminate the canopy humps and instead have a receiver for a full Jim Lee wraparound windshield.
