Default Outerlimits SV43 or Fountain 42PR

Looking at the two from a safety aspect. OL SV43 with a enclosed canopy or a Fountain 42 Poker Run?

I would think the enclosed canopy would boost the safety of the OL over the PR? Power for power on 6s. Which would be the better buy from a safety stand point?

Well if that's the case. Must of been a while. Because I didn't find jack on here about it when searching. I do like popcorn though.

I'm sure he was referring more to the constant OL vs Fountain threads, who's faster, who's better? Rather than the specific OL SV43 vs Fountain PR.

Who's faster is simple. Who's pockets are deeper and who's got the bigger power. But that's not the question at hand here. I guess I should of worded it. Closed canopy vs open cockpit?

Closed canopy will be safer but.....it will be hot with limited visibility. I thought I wanted a canopy cat until I spent some time in a 32 DW. I did not like the limited visibility and it was hot even with the vents at 100+. Unless I was going to be boating in a colder climate most of the time I would prefer the open cockpit. if you are running over 100 think about seatbelts to keep you in the boat. 100 lb. women have the tendancy to get airborne in three footers if not strapped in. I would rather have the OL over the Fountain but, I would rather have the open cockpit for a pleasure boat. If the OL top is removeable that would be my choice. You have good problems if this is your only concern. Let us know what you decide.

If the canopy boats safety equipment is used properly it will be safer. And air conditioning with a generator or battery bank fixes the cabin temp problem

If they were side by side you’d be amazed how small a 42 poker run is as well . I realize that’s not the question. I personally would rather an open cockpit . To me that’s boating. The open sv43 is a sweet set up.

42 PR was one of the coolest looking/best performing hulls made back when it came out. A couple had sharp paint, a couple had terrible paint.

The OL is simply in a different league (newer design).

I have never been in a canopy boat so I can't comment about them. They look cool but I'd be worried it would be hot/loud in there.

This is something I wonder, canopy boat if you roll over and are knocked out, wouldn't that be bad as it filled with water? Same as a open cockpit and belts? Seems for pleasure boating open with no belts and a vest would be safer?????????
