get the 45. I owned a 47 for 14 years. Awesome boat. A stock 47 w/496HO's ran 49 on gps. amazing ride in any water condition. Great layout and plenty of room.

I remember when the Excaliber came out and soon after the Formula 400ss. I have no idea why the Formula took off in popularity and the Excaliber didn't. I now have a 400ss and absolutely love the boat. The Formula comes with gas or diesel (mine's diesel) and gas 400's run low 50's. However, like the Excaliber, they are drive killers......just too much boat for a drive that wasn't built for such.

Note: You might want to look at the Formula 370ss or 400ss. They are built for the exact purpose that the Excaliber was built for and are very well made boats. Both brands have the same benefits...and the same challenges. (FWIW: Fountain also made a 38SC targeting the same market but that boat is WAY smaller than even the Formula 370ss)

Love ours, put some 540’s in it to take care of speed, cruise 44 top 55..,..only issue is- the new motors eat B3X for lunch. In the process of installing Arneson’s to fix that.
