I know of a really nice 45 in Michigan. freshwater boat. Motors were redone 2 or three years ag . 2 owner boa . He's had it for approximately 15 yrs. If interested I'll forward his contact info

Im screwed. Went to look at it and didnt want to leave. Owners are finishing up some work and we will do a seatrial next week. New motors, outdrives fittings etc. Cabin is a mess but I can do cosmetic stuff no problem. I dont want to give away anything until money has changed hands.

I've had my '96 45 for over 10 years, but don't have a ton of time in it as it was dry stored for many years. I love it - that's why I've kept. I bought from meticulous second owner on the Chesapeake, it's now on a TX lake...

My advice is first determine what max and/or cruise speed you have to have.
Since we're on the OSO site, I'm guessing you want a lot and can sacrifice some comfort.
Then do the math on what running cost you can afford. My Excalibur weighs about 15K. That's not light. With a narrow-beam of around 11 ft, it manages the weight very well. But 15 K is 15K. You can't fight physics. It will take a lot of energy to make that fast, and regardless of brand if you want 50+ speed, you will buy A LOT of gas to do it. If that doesn't faze you, I'd maybe look for a three engine Sunseeker. The beam is a bit wider, so there's more cabin. Yes, you can repower the Excalibur, but for the costs / asspain, I'd just start with something designed for more HP. But that's me.

If you can live with high 30s cruise, high 40s max (mine has bottom paint) I don't think you can beat the excalibur. Of the comparable boats I've been on (some but not all of those mentioned here), mine is far and away a better turning boat, handles any chop way better, and just a better looking boat. I has a timeless (to me) clean design style somewhere between the Euro boats, and the overly swoopy Formulas and SeaRays of the period. The styling looks fantastic today, while the others have not aged well at all. When you tie up, be ready to talk about it. Not mentioned here is the build quality and solid feel - mine feels like a tank. The cabin is very roomy for the 11 1/2 ft beam. The staterooms are fore and aft for good separation. Queen in front, with queen and a half in back for the kids and friends.

By chance I saw the Excalibur during my searches and that was it. Just found out the boat im interested in has zero hours on rebuilt motors and the outdrives are in crates. Heading out in a minute to do some recon. I really hope its not a basket case. But Im the type of guy who will buy a small project and turn it into a bigger project without looking at the big picture. Better than sitting at home fretting over toilet paper.
Zero hour rebuilt engines can be a problem. It would be much better with some hours and sorting out done.

I bought it. Sea trial was flawless yesterday. Temps and pressures were solid across the board. Kept it below 3000RPM and off of idle as much as possible. No leaks, smells or fires! Final funds being delivered pending a formal survey next week. I know this isnt the typical Offshoreonly boat as I aint gonna win any races, but its gonna fit what we want to do.

Kudos to the group of members here. Ive met and gotten valuable assistance from yall here. From tech support to meeting a few of you that live within walking distance. So I may not have the fastest boat here....but I got a lav! hahaha

I got mine new in 2000 drive showers a must time to in cover it and log 12 hrs on it enjoy there great boats
