There are some cool places to stop along the way if you are there for the week, not in a rush to get there/back home but how many times can you stop at Robbies or Alabama Jacks while you still have an hour or more to continue driving.

I had a neighbor that was doing the trip 2X a month, leaving at goofy times to try to beat traffic etc. He finally sold his house and bought something on the water in town here. The hours of driving was a chore compared to just spending more money to live on the water full time. Packing the car, putting the kids in the car seats at 4am to drive home and go to work at 9........crazy.

For us we still like it. If I worked down there maybe not but I dont.i visit 3-4 times a year and prefer to drive than anything else..

I like stopping at mom and pop places for lunch there and back. It never gets old to me..

The best hamburger I’ve ever had was at a truck stop on 27 half way to Homestead. The second best was at the Seven Mile Grill in Marathon. This was in the late 70’s. My aunt owned a hardware store in Marathon.

GLOC is our retreat. You can see what we started with. Boat dock is right there too. totally enclosed 50x50 2 slip.
Next to no No wake zone idle till I am hitting it.
It is pretty much right at 1 hour door to door to my business in Tulsa. Can you say--- Go up on Tuesday\ Wednesday- drive in a couple days a week from here.
Great Cove neighbors also except they drink Too much :flag:
DownFall??? I cant get the Wife to go to LOTO or KW anymore :angry-smiley-044:

I drive 42 miles from my lake place to the military base every morning. Small price to pay for living in my paradise. With a home and yard like that Q I can see why your wife doesn't want to leave. I am next to a golf course and have a herd of deer moving thru my property. I have killed 4 deer in the last three years on my property. I am after a big 8 pointer now. Enjoy your slice of heaven.

I get what both of you are saying, you go down for visits (Like me so don't mind), Jup is talking about a place that someone is trying to get to every weekend.

We have a friend that did that from here for a few years, they finally moved down full time.

Bet that makes a nice snowmobile cabin as well.

There's a reason the veranda is 4' off the ground, most winters the snow is even with the veranda. I get a lot of lake effect snow off of Lake Huron. The ice is 16" thick here.

I know a lot of these locations are LOTO but here's a current house for sale in Western MI. A beautiful Cape Code situated between 2 hydroelectric dams and has prime frontage on a 1300 acre lake. It would be absolutely awesome if a fellow boating/fishing enthusiast bought this......we would be neighbors! Check out the aerial photos I took with my drone for them.......we're literally on an island! This place is a boating paradise in the summer and great ice fishing in the late winter. This is one of the nicer homes on the lake and I believe waterfront prices here are some of the best in W. Michigan. To the North prices skyrocket due to all the vacation homes and same to the South due to Chicago $ coming in. They're asking 499K, not sure about taxes but guessing around 6k for a new owner. No HOA.

Can't upload any photos until I have 10 posts...LOL

In the middle of building this. Adjacent to the Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts. For you guys familiar with the area, Butlers Cove directly across from Taylor Point Marina. We should be in around April

Interesting that they are putting Blueskin over Zip Wall.

When it blows Southwest, it’s crazy here. We watched nail holes seep thru the Zip, so decided another layer of protection can’t hurt. I checked with both companies, and both said compatible.
Hopefully it’s my final, so not skipping a thing.
