My wife and I are building a house at LOTO. Bajaholic is building it for us. His floor plans are great, very modern looking. We Purchased a 2nd tier lot with nice lake view in a little subdivision. Purchased a 12x40 slip in community dock. Subdivision has a great clubhouse with indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tub.
We were weekenders my whole life down here. We moved full time 4yrs ago. Been living in our condo. It was time for a house. We’ve priced and searched hot and heavy the last 1-2yrs. In our price range houses I would find need a handful of things done, if not full rehab. We decided building was our best choice.
We’re excited to work with bajaholic he’s a great guy. Recommend anyone considering buying a lot. Call him and talk with him.

The amount of new construction at LOTO is leaving plenty of opportunity for aggressive business owners. We are building a warehouse for storage and I was up last week talking to local builders for bids and they are all slammed. You are doing the right thing getting the hell out of IL.

I have been scouting some things at the lake. Let's talk soon.

Ive had a realtor sending me feeds for a while now, some of the HOA fees are ridiculous, Ive seen maybe 2 or 3 in a couple years with a garage, they are like unicorns and you never own the slip

My new neighbor tried to get a couple HVAC companies out to look over his system. 2 month wait time. Had him call the guys I use, only because it came with the new system I had put in a couple years ago. They told him 3 weeks. Because I recommended them. Most everything here is electric and most are heat pumps. My new garage and river shack will be mini-split ductless. (Electric)
Most people here get all pissy if we don`t get there same day or next day.
Who waits for 3 weeks without AC!? I`d have a million bad reviews.
Good info to know .. question is what happens in the off season. but really we are pretty slow february to june in the residential arena here anyway ..
Good choice on the mini split, they are great !

1. Wood frame construction = noise from neighbors on all sides
2. The VRBO craze that would allow weekly rentals to the point where your neighbors seem to be on eternal spring break with just the characters changing weekly
I think if you can't drive to LOTO in less than 2-3 hours, buying something there is crazy......you almost can't use it enough to justify it once you get too far away.
