2 things would worry me about LOTO condos:
1. Wood frame construction = noise from neighbors on all sides
2. The VRBO craze that would allow weekly rentals to the point where your neighbors seem to be on eternal spring break with just the characters changing weekly
I think if you can't drive to LOTO in less than 2-3 hours, buying something there is crazy......you almost can't use it enough to justify it once you get too far away.

Merritt Island/ Cocoa Beach is cheap compared to what has been listed here but most homes are older and need work. Only issue now is the same, on the market for 1 maybe 2 days if they are on ANY water.
Like this one on Merritt Island, small but has a pool and a dock. Nothing compared to what has been posted but you would cry if you seen what places like this were priced at 5 years ago. Blame the space industry. From here you can watch launches from your pool or take the boat to get a close look.
Issue is that no inlets for 40 miles each way so we get brown agile blooms. You can go through the lock right at Cape Canaveral cruise port to get out to the Atlantic.

Cocoa Beach they cost more but you are beach side. Besides from here you can get on your paddle board and go over and party with JJ (AKA No Vacancy).

I will. But, not real soon. We’re just breaking ground. Hopefully winter weather is nice. My condo is a 2bed 2bath 1050sqft. We have two 12x36 slips right next to each other and a garage. Miramar condo complex at the 2.5 big Niangua in Camdenton.

#2 varies a lot. While there are a lot of rentals, the vast majority are not rentals. Also some complexes do no allow short term rentals.
#3 Spoken like somebody who has never been there. If this was true why would a guy from Florida come to LOTO every other weekend last Summer?? I would say about half the weekenders at LOTO live 2-4 hours away. I'm right at 5 hours door to door and was down for about 60 days total from March-Oct. My yearly cost of ownership would equal about 2 one week trips to Florida.

#1 is really only an issue with people above you. Never had an issue with next door people noise. I think some newer builds use concrete floors.

As for the FL guy making trips bi-monthly, I'd love to know what part of Florida he was leaving (landlocked Tallahassee maybe?). In your 5 hour trip, how bad does that increase on a holiday weekend or special event like the shootout?

1 and 2 have been that way since I started staying in condos at LOTO in ‘99. Is what it is. As for the the drive I live just a shade over 300 miles from my driveway to the dam and I normally make the drive in 4:45 comfortably with a stop for gas/p!ss. In the last two years I’ve spent every other weekend plus multiple full weeks down there during the season plus some offseason trips. I’ve found the more you make the trip the shorter it seems. A lot of condo owners spend time down there in the off-season. For me, the quality of boating there vs Illinois is why I moved my boat there full time and I’ve not found the travel to be a deterrent at all in terms of quantity of boating. My wife actually starts to get antsy if we go more than a couple weekends before we get back there during the season.
It would have been great to buy something in '99!

5 hours X 2 is a long ride, I'd try to stretch out as many week long trips as you can!
