How about mid-term elections and what the house and senate is configured?
Doubt DeSantis would run without a majority going into a campaign. |

No meaningful pushback and the steady March to the left would continue albeit slower for awhile. Trump is a lightning rod that would generate MASSIVE energy on the Left to turn out to vote against him. He's literally the worst possible front-runner for Republicans to nominate because he would be a double whammy. Trump would energize the Left to turn out against him again, while at the same time turning off moderates and Independents who are praying for anyone to save them from the Left's insane policy. But Independents are not praying for another 4 years of DJT. They want anyone on the Right except Donald Trump. And worse yet, Trump would likely drag the entire ticket down with him. Don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting we put up Mitt Romney again. DeSantis would be great. He's actually more of a true-blue conservative than Trump, but he doesn't have the baggage of Trump. And I'm not saying that Trump's policy is overall Far Right - or that Trump himself is Far Right (unlike Sanders who's policy really is Far Left). I am just saying that Trump is the favorite candidate of the far Right because he is so outspoken on the key issues that endure him to the Far Right. The Far Right excuse his bad behavior while voters in the middle don't. Overall Trump's policy is far more appealing to the majority of Americans than the Left's. But his behavior and personality turn off so many people that they vote against HIM - not against his policy. . Even with so many things lining up in favor of Republicans, Trump is the one candidate that could ruin Republican chances again because so many people simply don't like the man. Bernie Sander's supporters were BY FAR the most enthuastic supporters of any candidate on the Left. They freaking hated others on the Left who told them that if they wanted a Dem to win the WH in 2020 we cannot nominate Bernie. Bernie's critics were right - his supporters wrong. |

The media will tell you this guy is far right because he doesn’t want 6 year olds being told they get to pick whether their a boy or a girl. |

I get your point but I think you are way under estimating Trumps support. Now if the Dems manage to throughly repudiate the socialists in their ranks, it would be a different story. No sign of that happening though. Who is this “massive energy from the left” going to get behind, someone even more left? How would that sell? |

Who is this “massive energy from the left” going to get behind, someone even more left? How would that sell? And my doomsday scenario........Trump makes it clear that he is running in 2024 and sucks the desire of good Republican candidates like DeSantis and Halley to even seek the nomination. Democrats, fearful of another four years of Trump, talk Michelle Obama into running. I wouldn't like our chances against her. Yuch. |

There was NO ENERGY to elect Joe Biden in 2020. His car rallies were a fregging joke. But that's my whole point. The man was a broom stick yet he snuck in because so many people showed up to just vote against Trump. Same thing could happen in 2024.

Never in the history of the country has the incumbent party advanced a non-incumbent candidate and won. This leaves them hogtied to Biden, who they know CAN'T beat Trump unless something pretty significant happens in favor of Biden, which isn't likely to happen. I also think you severely overestimate the number of people who gave a crap about Trump's supposed bad behavior. It wasn't just the far-Right who overlooked a few warts. The majority of us were pretty excited to finally have somebody willing to actual SAY what needed said. The Left has been able to get away with so much for so long because of the spinesponges who supposedly opposed them. It was refreshing to actually see somebody with a backbone in Red for a change, and most of us weren't going anywhere, just because it bruised a few fragile egos. Thanks. Brad. (937)545-8991 |

It was the same people who voted against Trump in 2016 that voted against him in 2020. He got more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016, and the ratio between the two was marginally different, on the national level. The key differences were in the voter districts where the Left could corrupt the ballot chain of custody the most, which were targeted areas, known for being close race districts. It is primarily a Left stream media gaslight that so many more turned up to vote against Trump in 2020 than in 2016. It's just smoke an mirrors. They had to come up with excuses, just like they did in 2016, and all the talking points you've offered up work as well as any.
