Well we made a critical decision today. Buy a brand new motor and have no money left over to Blow on Broads Booze and Boating or Shade Tree Mechanic it and let it rip .

Were up to 3 bad pistons but the guy I bought the nearly new numbers matching stock piston has 2 more.

So running a 400 grit hone through those cylinders and slapping used pistons in after a thorough wash down of brake cleaner.

New risers on both motors and and were good to go.

He had a marine mechanic put new carbs on the motors a few years back when I was out of town.

He couldn’t get it to turn up to rpm so the dumb mechanic advanced the timing without running it I presume.

All damage is preignition and not short term like I originally thought from bad fuel

Got to get it put together so we can get up north and enjoy the cruiser up there before summer is over .

Anybody who wants to buy a boat with the idea that they will be doing all the maintenance and repairs should first have to take a 3 month class of Bilge Yoga.

May I suggest the Upside Down Spread Eagle Azz in the Air-Head in the depths of Hell Backwards Doggy as one of the Signature Yoga workouts you should concentrate on.

Were up to slamming 3 used slugs in it, thank god for low hour frozen motor parts availability from this past winter.

2 new valves and a seat and a complete set of new rod bearings and a few Hail Merrys and let it Rip, but not over 2000rpms.

Pulled exhaust off both motors and replaced the risers and elbows and removed and cleaned and resealed the heat exchangers.

My buddy Scott is 70 now. His dad died at 57. He said he never expected to outlive his brand new boat he bought new in 1986.

Stupid Buddies, Who Needs them ?
