BAT seems like an odd place to try selling this boat. The site has mostly sold wood hulled older boats. Not sure it would get the visibility on BAT needed to reach the reserve.

BAT sells literally everything from old motorhomes to vintage motorcycles. They get it done fast usually a week but for something really special they will give it a 30 day auction. The big auction houses like Barrett- Jackson, Mecum and others have to be worried that this place is doing it faster/cheaper (less commissions) and NO transport costs (auctions want you to deliver the car/truck to their auction at your expense and then home again if it doesn't sell).

Scroll down to exceptional results section, look at how many 500K+ sales they have had:

This one was a real head scratcher.............https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-fmc-2900r/
44 yr old motorhome with a duramax..............151K?!?!

The last offshore brand boat that sold on BAT was this and it didn't bring big money considering its history. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...8ft-off-shore/

Boat was an oddball layout with great history albeit old motors/alpha drives. The restore/ yard trailer coated in krylon/no fenders and the steering wheel/peeling paint would make me wonder how good it was in person. No CRT hull number would make me wonder if it was a Cigarette Racing Team boat or just a "cigarette boat."

BAT has far from proved to be a place to sell nice boats, even less than six-figure boats don't fetch market prices on BAT yet. The only two auction houses that have gotten

all the money for classic high-end boats is Mecum and RM Sotheby's. They have both pulled off million-dollar sales of classic Riva runabouts for example. Here are videos of

two that sold for just short of a million, one in 2011 and one in 2014. Both auction houses have plenty more similar sales. I could see the Apache sell for a pretty coin at Barrett

Jackson in West Palm Beach this coming April, on BAT not so much.

P.S. The ex. Mark Donohue 1972 Cigarette was a complete steal imho. I know the boat and saw it shortly before the auction on BAT. Totally documented boat with lots of records. D.S.

A Porsche 962 from back in the day might have some of the same issues if you show up at Sebring and recreate the 24 hour race.

Warpath is an awesome piece of history, I think it would be the hit of any poker run but I wouldn't go out and beat it up out of respect for the boat and its age regardless of the insane amount it will likely sell for next week.

Perfect analogy.
