Just received my new Florida premium that goes into effect in November. I have had progressive for 7 years now. I had an increase of $113 for the year. Just a bit more than last years increase. $30 surcharge from Florida was added in the premium.

Heard from a friend that lives in Bokeelia, Florida.(North Pine Island) He says he has Cell signal now. Home had minor damaged. Using his boat for supply runs for him and neighbors.
And I would like to thank ALL linemen for their outstanding work and speed of electrical and cell tower repair. 2.5 million people where without electric a week ago and reports where that 565,000 are without now.

Appreaciate all the updates from locals and hope this thread will live on through the clean-up. I cannot imagine the debris in the ICW at this point. In addition to the materials I would think hundreds of cars were washed back out into the ICW or washed in from the outer islands. If you have visited and/or boated in Florida it grows on you as a person and to see the damage rips you gutts out even if you don't live there or suffered loss.

First went to FMB, Captiva, Sanibel as a teen in '78. Last time I was there was for my 50th BDay in 2014. Yes, it tears you up to see the damage of a place you know so well even if you don't live there.

Florida completed repairs on the Pine Island Bridge on Thursday, just three days after construction efforts began.

I got home last Friday and started the clean up. Wife came home today and was not a happy camper. She is sad at the destruction of our little town. Sonic30ss was able to grab a pic of my boat on blocks at the marina (she survived and thank you). Before I was a little miffed at how long it was taking to get my boat finished at the marina. Now....Im glad it was safe on land. Scary to think that if the storm tracked X miles to the West.....we would have ended up like our neighbors to the south.

Helicopter news video posted a few posts up was tough to watch (literally it was like the video was on a bobble head or something). I love how the reporter is worried about the 10,000 cars that were damaged (like where did she come up with that number when the screen shows a few dozen cars?!?!). Does she realize one decent center console is worth 10 Camrys? She pans out to damaged boats in a marina, walls falling down and then stacked fishing boats but nothing to say.

Early in the video there was a condo (3-4 building complex) and due to shore erosion one of the buildings looked really close to the "new shoreline"............wonder if the city/state are going to have an issue with that building being livable again.

So the gal in the chopper is not a boater. I saw the video when it was first posted and think she did a good job in describing/showing the devastation. A minute into the video she says the roof is off at a Marina. (Actually it's the roofs off the High and Dry at the marina) And she says that boats are scattered everywhere. And then towards the end (hard for her to get the words out) she says that the shrimp boats are piled up on top of one another. That they can ride out a storm at sea, but not in port... Or Something like that.

As for Ft. Myers Beach. Governor Desantis said that most likely the Island would have to be bulldozed and rebuilt. THAT would be a chore. Dredging to add lost land. The island would have to be resurveyed/re-engineered. New building codes put in place. NIGHTMARE..
