There may have been power, but I'm not sure there were brains.

100% correct. We are up at LOTO running the boat all week.

I never understood staying if you are in the danger zone. I heard it all the time. "I am going to stay and protect my property". protect what? are you going to go up and hold the roof trusses on? bail the house out as it floods? I always tell people: no matter how smart or how tough you think you are, mother nature always wins!

Praying for everyone to be safe and praying that their homes, cars adn boats survive Hurricane Ian. My brother and some of his wifes family members have trailers at a Trailer Park in Fort Meyers for the Winter and are now think that they may be gone or heavely damged, will learn more tomorrow I guess.

I would think St James City at the south end of Pine Island would be obliterated. So many times the big surges never materialize. The angle that this storm came into charlotte harbor should have produced a huge storm surge. Not saying it didn’t but it should be a really good guide as to how far up the bays, inlets, bayou’s and rivers the really high water can go.

Naples Fire Dept had some good videos, even a firehouse (and trucks) had waist deep water in them. One hotel reporter showed water over the seawall then hours later it was covering the whole pool deck/handrails sticking out of the pool but muddy water covered the pool.........5 foot surge, he was calling it 10.
