Good point Dale, I remember SBI used to have the average speeds. I would think somewhere we could find out the lap length.
the 450 class cut down the difference by 8 seconds in smooth water from what I could see.
from 28 seconds to 22 seconds

Yes indeed the culmination of prostock and modified was a bloodbath. Besides having tiny lower running gear and a center motor strapped into a torture chamber, it wasn’t a question if will it break it was when. To date the hardest rig to throttle bar none. Running against #3s #4, #5 was no contest. Holds true today, Ginormous powerful power heads with the relatively same size rinky dink lowers of yesterday’s 2 strokes. Size does matter.
Previous post stated the outboards rigs suffered a lot of damage after the first race on Friday. Jclamps, lowers etc. No surprise, Reminds me of the old JoHos and Johnny Rudes.
Also, stay away Grudge Matches. Go race in a controlled event where there are safety boats and divers. I’m sure there are drivers seats you can buy for a race for under 10 grand.
Peace

They are purpose built to be light race hulls to maximize aero and hyrdo lift.....The layups are proven to do what they are designed for but not engineered for collisions or Stuffing....when you go from (X)XX mph to 0, that is a lot of energy and they all blow apart. Youtube has lots of crash footage

So, I think that is more on your buddy than the 340.
Other than that little input, you can all carry on the debate.

Obviously, I have moved on from the MTI 340/450 boat to the 37/450 DCB, but I'm certain that a properly crewed 340 can run with, or better than, a 308/300XS Skater.
