There is a newer facebook and IG account that goes by freedom one race team and it looks like they built a new 38 skater with shaft drives and it has billet motors with huge psi blowers.
It looks super cool and like it might be running in the shootout, i like how they kept it low profile and have some patriotic and charity based statements.
I have no idea what the boat is making for power but assume it must be up there. The 285mph number can't be real but looks like the boat has the hardware to play in the 185 plus range.

170 from a standing stop, never ran (at the shootout) and even a slow roll to get up. Dq'ed for not slowing in time.
If they get this figured out to get a roll in start and slow down. It should compete for top gun for sure.

According to Bob Teague the engines ( all aluminum ) have no cooling ( like a lot of drag engines ) and have to be towed out to the start line, fire the engines and blast off to keep from over heating.

Was confirmed by the team too. They have to figure out a way to get into the box with some speed to contend though and maybe parachutes for stopping .
Had a lot of potential for sure and sounded nasty.
