Won't need them. They will sound stock and make a lot more power.

Going from the starting box had NOTHING to do w cooling. The engines will run at idle for a long long time and under power for 30 secondsish. Plenty of time for the 40 mph roll. Its not what the owner wanted to do at this moment in time. Yes their is plenty to sort out, but trust me it has the potential to hit the current record mark.

I love it! They made an awesome debut and I am looking forward to seeing them next year. I cannot imagine how many gremlins there can be in a project like this. I am betting they learned allot!

Add in American Ethanol, Dirty Duck, and hopefully the Crocket Rocket next years Shootout will be epic! Reserve your rooms now!

I am surprised that there is room in the cockpit for the size balls these two must have!

Standing start, and with the previous days transmission woes, they posted they started and ran the course in 2nd gear only. Thanks to Flat Rate for the post, was able to catch them on instagram with only 100 followers (over 1k in two days). Love the secret-squirrel attempt and their constant updates over the weekend. Very fun to follow along, they have an admiral goal and I can’t wait to see how they progress.

I also agree with DRAG; though they posted their intent to take the record with the boat, I think the bench-racers inserted a lot of the hype/rumors.

It's not "quickly becoming", more like "always has been" a "spend to win" deal Joe. These pics are from 20 years ago when Rod and his dad were promoting their 2,000+ HP engines at the time. The only difference between then and now is that even the outboard guys are throwing large amounts of money at the event with nitrous and other motor mods on brand new, warrantied $70k apiece motors - which are no longer under warranty after the mods. The days of a 28 Skater with a pair of $10k apiece two-strokes on the back are long gone. Funny thing is, Jim Melly's (RIP) 28 Skater was only 10-15mph slower than the fastest outboards of today that cost 10X as much!

When has a popular speed contest ever not become this. This is always a funny argument to me. Yeah sometimes the event loses some appeal, but it is also inevitable. Still lots of cool normal boats running the event. Outboard Vees were pretty exciting this year.

I would love to no details on all of the setups. A nice 33 power play ran 90+. Sounded great

I thought AEM or similar already made new ECMs but I’ve never seen them discussed. Cool idea and shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish with everything out there already.

Thanks for the update. I assumed they probably couldn’t or weren’t shifting it. Definitely the right type of setup to really attack the record!
