Default Winter rebuild Saris racing

It feels like fall so it is a good time to post this. The engine in my Velocity VR1 is getting tired and has some blow by. The boat started out as a factory 1 race boat. Solarized. It had a Innovation built sealed engined and raced in 2005. Around 2012 it was refurbished by Velocity, new interior and cabin. I purchased it a year later and dropped it off to Eddie Young. He refreshed it and made some improvements. This winter I am taking it to Saris racing. They will bore it to 540, new heads etc and give me 600 to 650 HP.. I have talked to Jason Saris a few times and am very impressed. I am getting up there, in years, and this will likely be my last engine rebuild. I am very excited and I am sure this winter will seem very long.

Who else has winter projects?

Congrats! Your VR1 will love the 540!
600hp=high 80's all day.

I'm the exact opposite! Have my VR1 for sale. Sad to see it go. Been a great 10 yrs. Time for the Pontoon life. I'll have 600hp too! Twin Verado 300s.

Hope all is well

Speaking from personal experience, you will not be disappointed. Jason, Johnny and the whole crew in Bolton Landing are just awesome to deal with. It's amazing just how many of your fellow members of the Rochester Offshore Powerboat Association have had repair, rigging or engine work done so far from home. There's only one reason that happens: great service at a fair price!

A future Team Saris Performance Marine customer gets towed in by a current happy Team Saris Performance Marine customer.

Thanks again Tom!
The fix was strange but easy. Dropped it off at Excel Marine in Tonawanda. Checked fuel and spark...both good Checked module in distributor, also good. Went to check timing, loosened distributor and it was tight, wouldn't budge. They got it out and it had crud built up on the shaft, And had advanced and stuck. cleaned it up, polished it and set the timing. Runs good, except for some blow by. Will be making the 6-hour trip to Lake George in a few weeks. I am excited about being part of the Saris boaters.
