The right dealer and partner in who you buy from and who maintains your boat; is key, and worthwhile for both the dealer AND the buyer/owner/(eventual seller).
Sure, you can buy a boat direct from some manufacturers. BUT, if you want to sell your 440X MTI Catamaran, and get into a Cigarette 59' Tirranna; the MTI Factory probably isn't going to be the first one to call you back.
If there are 2 MTI Catamarans; 1 bought from TnT and 1 bought from MTI direct; sitting in the storage facility next to TnT, and the Key West Poker Run starts tomorrow...
...and for whatever reason, BOTH of those boats blew a powerhead on the Monday test run...
...I can tell you which one is NOT getting the new 500HP outboard that TnT has in stock, installed overnight, so you can leave on the Poker Run in the morning.

I love the sound and torque of big block motors. I had Zul power in my 42 Cigarette and could never see the draw to an outboard. Now that I have crossed over to the dark side I am blown away. Much less maintenance way better on fuel, reliability is far greater not to mention resale. It is hard enough to find a buyer for cats let alone a big powered inboard. Again I love them. I would guess insurance for a new cat owner would be more expensive and harder to get on a high horsepower inboard cat.

I wouldn't buy thru the factory for an MTI. I'd buy from a dealer at the same cost.
BUT......
What sense would it make to purchase a boat from a FL dealer, when the OP has a local dealer 5 minutes from him that would support him? I could be wrong, but I don't think TNT moves more MTI's than PBC. And you'd be getting there "PBC Edition"
Thats all I got ---------> Carryon

"lmao! It seems you can afford that 42 cat with 1100 to me .

If I could be happy with only one then you MIGHT be correct (at least until I broke it). My deal is that there are only so many holiday and special event weekends. If something is down, I go turn another set of keys and continue on with friends and family that are in town.
Insurance for me on a new 1100 is the same as what I pay on six or seven of my current fleet and a very good friend of mine just got his QC4 (one of them) back from Mercury for a re-fresh along with a 106K bill for what was done. This does not include the pull, install, shipping, hassle, time down and or other finds that you always run into when you are doing motor swaps on an inboard (been there and done it). I can buy a bunch of powerheads or gear cases, and trash the cores for that money. Boating is my first motorized passion, but spending 12 to 14 hundred per hour and missing special days would send me in another direction. There is a reason that used big inboard cats are priced at a fraction of new right now.
It all depends on your level-I'm just not there, but would love to be....
